Update:
After purchasing the 3M tape & adhesive promoter I finished up this afternoon. Had to go to a paint supply store for the adhesive promoter. It did seem to make a stronger bond using it thou. I'll order some online for future projects.
Total cost was well under a $10 bill so the repair was well worth the trouble fixing it, especially with y'all's helpful info.
Thanks, Larry -
Adhesive promoter? Got a name, brand, whatever? Where to buy?
-
Success. It took longer to get the double stick tape off than heating & prying the mirror glass off. I'll finish tomorrow after getting some 3M body tape to reattach the mirror glass.
Man I tell ya when it comes to anything Slingshot this forum is the place to go to.

Thanks guys. The 2nd pic Jay posted shows 2 of 3 screws that are loose on my Sling. Hope to get too it later today.
-
That's awesome info Jay. I'll check on heating it up with my heat gun tomorrow. Glad to hear the glass is held in place with double stick tape instead of glue. How do you like those convex mirrors?
-
I slipped an inspection mirror behind the glass part and from what I can tell there's a screw in the center of the pivot. Which makes me think the glass is probably glued on after the plastic bits are assembled.
At $100 for a mirror I'll check with my dealer to see if warranty covers it. -
Anybody have taken a mirror apart or have a drivers mirror they'd part with? I've got a loose drivers mirror. The mounting screws inside the mirror seen to have backed out just enough for the mirror to rattle. Looking at it I can't see how one would tighten the screws. If I could pop off the mirror at the socket then probably could tighten them.

Dropped my sling off for the recalls today. Sure was a nippy drive there at 36* but at least dry. Tomorrows weather is calling 53* but rain all day. No question on which day to drop her off.

Michigan classifies the SS as an "autocycle" yet tags it with mc plates. No mc endorsement needed thou.

Thanks guys. Guess we'll have to keep searching for those cross matches whatever they are.
-
warranty started Dec 2014. May still be in effect due to Polaris giving extensions when they did the steering recalls. I'll check with my dealer next week. I'd still love to find an aftermarket replacement thou.
Thought I saw on one of the forms the a frames were off of a Saturn Sky/Pontiac Solstice? -
Anyone know if there is a aftermarket upper ball joint available? Checked mine today. They're just starting to get movement & clicking
-
OEM bar for now. On the factory bushings there was slight wear/galling on the edges already on the plastic. About 14k miles on the sling. Also there was just a trace of some kind of grease in the groves.
On the lug nuts all came off ok. You could see on a few nuts some wear forming on the edges so probably only a matter of time before they got striped. -
I picked up a set of lug nuts (chrome) today at my local O'Reilly store. Install them tomorrow.
Also got the sway bar bushings so I'll be doing that mod too. -
Got mine today as well
. Awesome job guys.

Myself (and everyone else I'm sure) I'd like to know what changes, if any, is done to the swing arm. Bearings, beefed up, etc. I would think accessories attached to the swing arms remain the same.
I reserved my place in line for the recalled parts at my dealer yesterday. They also said their inventory on hand is on a "no sales" position until all recalls are done on them. So will dealers get first shot at replacement parts over previous owners? This may be why we're being told February. Anyhow food for thought. -
l'm in for at least one, maybe a couple.

Ordered a red set today. Cool item for the slings and at a great deal to boot.
Thanks, Larry
