Hey Jamie, glad you could join us in Maggie Valley, and here on the forum. I'll give you a call or text in the near future to possibly discuss some options on that Haltech stuff.

Wow, sorry to hear about that. Take your time and be safe the rest of the way home. Get back with us when you have time.

@StickerDickand I hit the dragon early this morning. Made a few runs at it but of course being a holiday weekend it was busy and people wouldn't pull off out of the way. There were 3 cops hanging out on it all day hiding behind turns. We then rode over to where some of us will be zip lining on Friday. Finally through Gatlinburg for some lunch and back to the hotel by 2:30 or so this afternoon. It was a good ride and today's weather was perfect.
    See all you guys soon.
    Drive safe,

I have used line locks a few times in the past. On my mustang drag car, and then on an off-road buggy. Had hooked to the rear brakes in the buggy. Served two purposes there. Parking break, and locking the rear to do fwd turns with the rear output disconnected.
Like you stated earlier, its not anywhere near necessary on a slingshot, but again neither is 99% of the other crap we put on them.
I'll be ready to watch some of your burnouts!!!

Finally updated my phone so I can now post pictures again. Updated the first post and you can see after removing the lower section what I used to fill the leftover bolt hole. These push pins also work great to fill the rusty bolt holes under the hood near the latches.

I use 24" axle straps around the lower control arm in the front as suggested in the owners manual.
When I had the stock wheels I strapped through the rear wheel with a shirt wrapped around the strap to protect the rear wheel.
Now that I have custom painted wheels and I have two alternatives on the rear since I don't want to go through the wheel. First I ordered 42" axle straps and will use one around the lower clevis mount on the rear shock. It will reach far enough to get the metal hoops past the rear tire in the back. I will then put my ratchet strap through the metal rings and then to two tie down points in the floor. This should pull the axle strap straight back and keep it off the wheel and tire.
Other option is pull the tag end out of the ratchet part of the strap and feed it up from the bottom on the belt side between the swing arm and angle drive. When it comes out the top, feed it back behind the tire on the left side and put it back in the ratchet. I'll know for sure which works better for me this coming Thursday or Friday evening when I load for Maggie Valley.
The pic is how I did it with stock wheels.

I have an older Gopro that I just set up to use on the SS. I also just bought a knockoff version that's actually pretty good so far. It fits in all the Gopro mounts so that is a bonus.
It is a SJCAM4000 wifi. Has a screen on the back unlike my older Gopro so you can actually see where it is filming. Also has built in wifi and an app so you can control it with your phone. I paid $89.00 for it on Amazon with a bunch of accessories and mounts.

Just an FYI, a lot of other sites I visit as a guest when working on other projects are similar in some ways to what Rabtech is asking. Only difference is they aren't locking away the technical information written, just any pictures or videos that had been posted by the forum members. If I clicked on the thumbnail to view them it would kindly tell me that I needed to join the forum to view the information contained in the picture. Some I have joined, others I did not. If someone wants to get at the almost 2 years worth of knowledge base that is here on the Slingshot, they will join. Hopefully they will join and be a contributing member down the road.
@rabtech. Could you have a section that automatically makes a thread welcoming each new member that joins? I'm sure other members would reply to them and make the newbee feel welcomed so hopefully they will hang around for a while instead of joining to gain a quick but of info and bail out.

    • Just a FYI, if you purchase the NRG belts you will notice they are overly long. The loop is sewn back onto the adjustment bar itself so there is only so much adjustment to be done. I actually think fully adjusted in they would still be too long to work properly in the Slingshot. I had spoken with @kenny_h about his before ordering so I knew this going in. The belts are only priced at $59.00 each so they are relatively inexpensive for a 4 point harness with camlock style release. They are not DOT certified however.

I got the belts in my hands today and have remedied this extra length by cutting the shoulder belt in 2 spots and then wrapping them like most other SFI racing belts. Doing this simple mod gives you adjustment all the way in or out as needed. I can now adjust them fully to the best length for myself and my wife.
