After reading this thread and taking a look at the AeroCatch product, I found this on EBay -
Universal Black Racing Mount Bonnet Carbon Fiber Hood Pins Latch Key Locking Kit | eBay
I've been thinking for a while about installing some rear hood pins to make sure the hood can't pop up if the latches let go, but haven't gotten around to filming the vertical motion as the hood opens to make sure it lifts vertically before starting to lift forward. I was also looking for something with sufficient contact area to spread any pressure evenly around the hole to minimize chances of cracking the hood. The Ebay units are reportedly 2.5", so this may be a good start if I want to place some wider reinforcement to the under side of the hood. I was thinking about trying to locate the hood pins in the black accent strips towards the rear portion of the hood and fabricating some type of mount that would rest on the two frame tubes on each side of the engine compartment.
EBay also has locking pins similar to the AeroCatch product starting around $20.
Hood buttons!

I believe the springs added are the key to the slingshot.

I do too. I also love not slamming my hood any longer.

Cracking around the buttons would suck. Glad Rab and Cameron are doing the high speed stress tests.

The thought of drilling through my hood makes me shudder in horror - NO WAY, JOSÉ!!!

looks awesome, love to do it but beyond my skill set! Once again, everything good happens at the ssits.

I believe we all ended up with it. @Painter too. I'm just shocked that this wasn't a hot ticket item.
I wanted to have it done just not enough hours in the day...
Cameron your face when he drilled was priceless!!!
I will try and find the info and so I can get er done! -

At this point, neither.. The first is expensive and you'd be doing trial and error to get the lengths right and it has no spring. The 2nd is locking which for most is both unnecessary and a hassle, as well as pioneering it yourself, again with no spring. Since there seems to be a lot of interest on this, patience will prevail as either the phantom installer comes forward or someone else plays entrepreneur and makes a kit.

Now this is a great idea,...Such a shame they are not offered by any of the vendors for $199.99
But a certain home run application of DIY creativity
The affordable realistically priced set I mean(not the standard bend over sling price)Well done young Jedi!!!

The actual hardware used would be the first link, but instead of the 2.5" crazy expensive ones, it's the 1.5" black minis. The other color options do not come in the 1.5" configuration, so we need to start with black. It looks good anyway and they're aluminum. The tops could be easily painted or powder coated. You will also need the spring that's sold for a couple of bucks on the same website. As to the installation that's where we need more information. I can provide any pictures you would like.
