sounds great, but exactly what right do you think you have that you would be giving up?
Legally there is no right to privacy when you are in public, it has been challenged it court thousands of times and it upheld
I suspect you think you have some right to privacy when you walk out of your house - - you don't, not legally and you never did

I have to take girlfriends mother to the doctor today and right on cue.....there Is a protest scheduled right near her house blocking the main road and next to the turnpike entrance.....it’s one of the busiest intersections in the the state...
Now I have to figure out a back way around this mess. the worst part is there is a big hospital right on that corner..and another one a mile down the road...might delay any ambulances that have to get in there....
And now they want to take away tear gas, rubber bullets and other non lethal items to control the crowds......if they take away their purses the cops will have nothing....The next law will be....protesters must be given a time out......so police must provide Comfortable couch’s To accommodate them.....they must also provide foot massages and counselors will be on hand to help The snowflakes To deal with hurt feelings....

never understood why protest organizers feel they need to protest in a way that cause problems like this. we have had a bunch of protests here in the valley in the past weeks and for the most part they have been held peacefully in public parks with little or no disruption to traffic
whenever I turn on TV and se some bunch of protesters marching on some bridge or blocking a freeway or turnpike entrance I instantly lose any interest in what cause they are yelling about - to me if they dont give a shit about all of the people they are making trouble for then why would I even listen to them?
free speech is a wonderful right we have and I believe people should have the right to do anything they want just so long as the do not interfere with the rights of any other person in the process - yes these people have the right to free speech, but in my book they do not have the right to get in the way of other peoples lives in the process

Protestors have nothing else to do. Brought up under the nanny state mentality. Why don't I see protests for the policemen who have been murdered do to the protests? I'm sick and tired of the discrimination protesters have. Maybe we should be giving our country back to the native Americans! The minorities will never be satisfied. By the way, aren't white people supposed to be a minority by 2030+-? Can't wait to see the support for that group when it happens.

With all due respect, there is a thread called "Politics Suck' for the introduction and discussion of political topics here at this Slingshot forum. It was located by admin in the NSFW section, I assume because these topics can be polarizing, discussions can become heated, and many people choose not to participate in them. For a couple of years now, that was the only thread I had blocked. But now with the off-season, all the virus bullshit, and the obvious new government intrusion into our lives, these topics seem to be spilling out to where the happy, ignorant people like myself are trying to hide. I will now add this thread to the 11 other dedicated politically based threads that I have ignored, but feel that the format here could be respected a little bit more. A couple of prolific posters can easily turn an otherwise light hearted forum into a political forum.
Then I think about the dozens of original members that no longer post here. Makes you wonder...

here in the valley where I live white people are a minority - only 26% of the population here is white, 69% is Hispanic 2% black and the rest is a mix of Asian, Native American and mixed - - - heck with 33% of people in Palm Springs proper identifying as Gay or Lesbian and 51% of the population being female as a straight white man I am really in a minority
despite my minority status I have a job and a life away from that job so protesting is not how I want to spend any of my free time

on another topic .... I thought to protest in most localities you had to apply for a parade permit. Then it had to be approved. They should also require a 10 million dollar property damage bond. If you can’t get the bond you can’t protest. Fixed that.Just think about how much damage, lost businesses, lost jobs, and death and injuries one bad cop has cost this country. His Punishment should be death.

sorry - I did not intend this thread to get into right / left politics - - it was intended to simply talk about the idea of re imagining how a police force could work that might better fit with todays society - I was hoping this could be discussed without any political motivation being involved.
Anyway perhaps it is not possible to even talk about this subject without it becoming political - personally I think that is kind of sad, but heck what can you do - - - so rabtech if it would be better please feel free to move this over into the politics suck if you feel that would be a better place

Couldn't have said it any better, I'm here to read about slingshots. I was just considering starting a thread titled Where have all the OG gone only I know it's because of stuff like this.

its an entire section thats specifically not to be about slingshots - - - - do you think that entire section should be eliminated?
and if you are only here to read about slingshots why do you even look at posts like this that are in the non-slingshot section?

I agree with Ghost as I am one of the “prolific” political posters. I started the Politics Suck thread the day the forum was born and it has gone strong for 4 years discussing and debating bout every topic imaginable. IMHO that is where these discussions should remain. Everybody is respectful in there and at times it is very entertaining but I get it - many are not political junkies like some of us. I have learned a lot from the gearheads on the forum but how much can you discuss tires and not fully cover the subject??😂. Our forum has been successful because most everybody “stays in their lane” - if you know how to look I can’t imagine there are not multiple threads that anybody would enjoy - let’s just keep this as the best forum in the Slingshot world where everybody feels comfortable!!

I just find it interesting that the people who insist "You don't need a gun, the government will protect you!" are the same crowd yelling "Get rid of the police!"
Frankly, I don't see why anyone applies for a cop job in any blue state or city. Gee.... do I want to risk my life in a city (or state) where the majority of people I see every day hate me, and my employer from shift boss all the way up to the governor's office will refuse to support me, and the union I am forced to join & financially support protects the creeps who disgrace my uniform and make it virtually impossible to do my job.
Hmmmm... but I get long hours, job stress, PTSD, and mediocre pay?
Gosh, I am going to have a hard time deciding on this one!

most every union sides with the Democrats right or wrong. So that tells me someone is getting quod pro quo for doing it. So why would every good union man want a socialist agenda, giving up your guns and illegals taking jobs and all the other crap that the Dems have been pulling.
On the other topic.... if you just want to talk about slingshots don’t click on an other topics. They aren’t about slingshots ... how hard is that? Quit derailing and complaining about threads you aren’t interested in.
This last year has been a critical year for the entire world. Even more important than slingshots.
