This is NOT my slingshot but someone local that had theirs stolen on May 11th. If any of you guys in the south FL stumble upon it here is the info.
This absolutely boils my blood. Hopefully he had at least insurance on it. God damn bastards.

That sucks for sure. I have heard of several over the years being stolen from the Miami area. Criminals everywhere so you have to be careful. It can happen in any city.

The first question that came to my mind is, where's the market for a stolen Sling? Are they being shipped overseas or are they being disassembled in a chop shop somewhere in Miami and parted out on Ebay?

im not exactly sure but could be a combination of both. Also, it is not necessarily difficult to paint a slingshot and replace the Vin number with another one. There are ways to do this. It was possible in the old days with cars and it is still possible nowadays.

Probably driven straight in to a shipping container and on the water before the ink was dry on the police report.
Lots of used "US spec" units and a large number high dollar custom Slingshots in UAE even though the Polaris dealers in the country don't carry them.

Maybe just a joy ride? I put a jack anti theft device on my sling when I go on trips.
I'm going to installing a hidden used apple watch for GPS location, soon. It will need cellular data to transmit the location...

vehicle parted out are usually worth more than whole vehicles...since there are no serial/vin numbers on the majority of the parts....finding them is almost impossible....

Shoot, for all that trouble, could we sell our units to them? If they're rich and want it, why not pay us versus a criminal? Or what am I missing in this grand scheme?
several years ago PA changed the law regarding junk yard parts....if I wanted to make a dune buggy from a VW that I buy for scrap prices...Even For the parts off the old vehicle....the title was still required so they knew it wasn’t stolen...
to sell to someone overseas would require a title search for liens ....and probably a mile of paperwork...
That's assuming the foreign country even has a title program in their country
I just had a GPS/Alarm system installed on my 2020 SL. SlingshotAlarm.com This is the best investment I made so far.
Insurance?

Same. But im actually thinking of adding another hidden GPS somewhere in case they disconnect the main one. Two is better than one.
Insurance?

not sure if he did. I surely hope so. I felt bad for the guy he posted it on offerup with a $500 reward for any info. Told him i would post on the forums.

if you stole it here you might need the title to prove you didn’t steal it to get it on a boat...
customs regulation? Maybe
My apple watch idea will hold up for about 2 days if the battery cable is disconnected.
I believe my apple watch data plan is $10/month.
Is there a monthly subscription cost for the GPS data transmitting?
