frankly I couldn't care less if professional sports never came back - - if nothing else is learned from this the one thing that should be learned is that we are paying the wrong way too much. Instead of making multimillionaires out of people for playing games we should be giving that money the first responders across the board for what they do every single day

What Dickless doesn't know is that my mother raised my brother and myself as a health and physical education professor after my father's death when we were 12 and 13 years old. She coached SPORTS and SPORTS put the food on my table, bought us our musical instruments, and kept the standard of living we enjoyed when my father was alive. She became Chairman of the Athletic Department and later Athletic Director. She had a long and distinguished career in SPORTS and even presented to the Olympic Congress in Seoul, Korea.
And now this cocksucker is going to tell me sports are meaningless and to get a life???? He's telling me my mother's 40 year career meant nothing because she chased balls instead of bad guys???? Bigdog I am small of stature but you better be glad you're across the country 'cause I'd come look you up to continue this conversation. Piss off!

Opinions are like assholes - we all have one and they all stink
I watch sports occasionally but I do agree the money spent is out of control.
I 100% agree with both points of view and I do we need to be careful when we categorize others.
Sports is a form of entertainment and I think we need to keep a value and respect that not everyone thinks the same.
My wife is a HUGE sportsball fan - where I can take it or leave it.
In my opinion - I do feel that police, ems, firefighters, etc.... should make more money, however it's not just sports that is overpaid.
Big pharma is a huge deal too - and there are many many more examples.
In the end - I love these forums and I don't say much.
I just want us all to keep in mind that there is one thing that we all have in common that brought us here - and don't let mere 'words', that can be easily misconstrued when there is no inflection, get us riled up. Respect and care for one another as we have enough shit in the world bringing us down.
and - just to be a little silly - I end this rant with this meme.

Edward Neal an opinion expressed with respect is received with respect. Nothing I said was directed at you and your opinion is valued. It's common for people to complain that our athletes and entertainers are paid so much, but this is based on the economic model of each industry. They would not be paid so much if millions of people didn't buy tickets to watch them. It's called entertainment, and while it may not seem productive to many, it is obviously an important part of our SOCIAL lives. And as a final thought. I GUARANTEE you that if you had succeeded in life as a premier athlete or entertainer your opinion would be much different.
You know Ed, you and I have started many goofy threads about this or that or the other thing, and the difference between those threads and the ones numbnuts puts up is that ours are light-hearted and fun. His are specifically to get negative reactions and he is very successful at it. I've played along and now I'm done. He can waste yours and anyone else's time but not mine.

I'm definitly not missing any sports, I was tired of the whinning that all the overpaid athlets were doing, like anybody cares what they think. I have been watching our 1st responder teams and am rooting for them and they are winning.
