My 2015 Slingshot battery is now 5 yrs old. For me the 5 yr mark is when I change the battery.
What battery do I want for my Slingshot?

We will be going with the most economical group 26 or 34 sealed battery available at the time our 2015 battery goes south, but it has shown no symptoms yet to date.

After getting 5 years from the oem battery, why not see if Polaris still has one available to purchase. I know they've changed to difernt batteries, but who knows, they might just fool ya and e able to sell you a fresh one

Funinthesun i agree with you 100%. Last month I took my sling to the dealer to get the recall on the J fuse . I told them while they were back there go ahead and put a new battery in there. There was nothing wrong with the original battery except it was 4 years old. My sling has the small battery in it and had them replace it with the OEM battery. I figured that the first one lasted this long why change?
I changed my 2015 battery at 4 years, I did not want any surprises on the road.
Batteries Plus has had 'oem' matching batteries in stock when ever I needed one ... about $130.00
My 2015 battery is still going strong. So I'm going to keep it I hope it doesn't leave me stranded someplace. I don't think it's going to go dead all of a sudden. How usually don't replace things that are working properly. Still cranks over very easily
My 2015 original battery still going strong also! I asked the dealer to check it during the last recall and they said it tested good.

I recently had Autozone replace the battery in my Tundra with a 5-year battery that was smaller than the original, but packed more amps. When the time comes, I'll probably have the same type put in the Sling.

Battery deaths are completely unpredictable. You'll often get warning signs like slow cranking but they can die suddenly. My oem battery in my 1st Sling did that. Worked perfectly yesterday, nothing today (2015 car battery). One battery might last for 7 to 10 years and another identical battery might only go 18 months. Ya gotta roll with it. I also subscribe to the 'party 'till ya puke' mentality. It costs enough to replace the broken and worn out stuff!
This wasn't the battery I went to buy, but it's what they had in stock. I really wanted to buy one less than $200, but it only weights 18 lbs, less weight is always better, plus this brand has a great reputation.

It says 472 cold cranking amps, the advertising and label on the side of the battery says it can do 1067 pulse amps, assuming that's just marketing, but bigger numbers are better in this case.
The QA form that was in the battery said it was tested at 650 amps. It was quite a bit smaller than the stock AGM motorcycle battery that the newer SS comes with. I had to modify the battery mount holder to fit the battery and hold it in place.
This is the battery I went to buy that day, https://www.summitracing.com/parts/xsp-d925 in case others are looking for a good, smaller AGM that isn't OEM.
If you live anywhere within driving distance of a Rural King store, they have a Group 34 AGM battery that goes on sale several times per year for around $100 or less. Regular price is around $130 or so. It's a little larger than the stock 2015 battery, but will fit in the 2015 battery holder. Around 700 CCA, IIRC.
I'm also rocking the 2015 still... But with LEDs I'm trying to our in and a new stereo, along with a little all in one sub, I'm thinking time to replace.
I'm going to look into the one you mention BKL... But what if I have the Welter Duals now? FunCycle , what do you recommend? And I don't want Optima...

A Group 34 may be a tight fit with the Welter pipes going past it. I believe the same thing applies to the Optima batteries, as well. I originally ordered my RK battery and had it delivered, but every ad I've seen since says In-store. Pep Boys carries an identical looking Bosch AGM battery and occasionally puts it on sale for around $140-150.

I have the Group 26 Optima with the top and side post, it is one inch shorter in length that the 34. What ever battery you do get just be sure to pull it as far to the outside cover as possible on install so that it is as far away from the Welter pipe as possible. You can also make a heat shield out of a thin piece of alum. I think it was 3 inch wide and 10 inch long. Knock a couple of holes in it one on each end, I forget the measurements and strap on the frame rail with 2 screw clamps right up against the battery box. I went with the AGM battery so I would not have to keep cleaning the battery post, I HOPE.
I have Optima in both of mine. They cost more but the stand behind their warranty. I had one quit me in MV and it was almost 3 yrs old and they refunded 100 % of my money and I bought another one just like it.

no it’s discontinued......but you can find a replacement lots of places...my SS is a 2015...battery is still good.....keeping batteries fully charged with a trickle charger helps them last longer
as a side note...I just changed the Factory battery in my 2011 pickup truck 4 months ago...Without trickle charging...it ever..
