"Corona Virus" What did you do today?

  • I just ran up to my doctor's to give them my new insurance card. Yeah, they made me come in for that. X/ Oh well, at least there was plenty of parking.

That reminded me of an incident back in the early 80s when I lived in San Diego. Girlfriend and I went to La Jolla Shores park one night after it was closed (there were no barriers to enter the parking lot) pulled up into the closest space to the beach, turned the ignition off and sat and drank a beer, chatted and listened to some tunes. Only car in the parking lot. LEO pulls up behind me and proceeds to write me a ticket for parking in the lot after hours, for parking in a handicapped spot and for open container. Also wrote her one for open container too. I considered fighting the handicapped spot ticket since the lot was technically closed so in my mind no handicapped person could legally use it at the time. I was advised not to fight it. Don't recall what the total cost off all those tickets was but it definitely put a dent in my beer money for a while. :cursing:

  • Why we live here...

    Back yard this morning

40 min up the road to Wrightwood at ground zero on the San Andreas

15 min later up the hill some Birthday girl throwing snow balls at me!
Time for this c-19 charade to be over!

We’ll get there when we get there and not a minute before. 😎

  • mmmm, admit it, it's only 40 minutes up the road, cause everyone else is in stay at home lockdown.

not everyone! Tons of people out playing in the snow. Packing a lunch and enjoying the day. 7 deaths in Riverside county. 2.3 million people. Time for this to be done!

We’ll get there when we get there and not a minute before. 😎

  • wow, and here I am in Maine with a total of 1.3 million people. Aroostook County Maine, the size of Connecticut with only 70,000 people in it. I wouldn't survive in a crowded place anymore.

Riverside county is over 7000 mi.²

It Stretches from the Arizona border to Los Angeles😎

  • I stand corrected - 41 deaths out of 2,300,000 people. Again, every life is precious but so is proportion.

    98% survival rate.

Boeing is going back to work on Monday calling back 2500 people. I say we do the same.

SoCal you said it. You are obviously unqualified for public office.

Yes I agree a very low death rate compared to the total population - but would it still be that low if the State hadn't been locked down? and will it remain low if the lockdown is ended now?

I dont have the answer to that and thank God I am not the one who has to decide, but one thing I do know - - right now I would not be happy if they opened the casino where my wife works and called her back to work - - I would not feel comfortable at all knowing she was going to be in that kind of contact with the general public.

  • Only thing more scary about the coronavirus from the flu is there's no antidote or vaccine yet. Many more people die of the flu every year then have died from Corona. Soon as there's a vaccine out everyone will go back to normal.

We have only had the coronavirus for 3 months or so - - what will its annual death rate be after we actually have a year of it? - - will it fade in the summer? - - - can people get it again after they already have had it? - - still way to many unknowns in my view to be comparing it to the flu - - - heck even with the flu there are strains that have been very deadly that can pop up from time to time - - - I have a good friend who lost his 30 something daughter to swine flu a few years back - no underlying health issues - it just killed her and that was despite all of the many many years of experience the world has with various strains of flu - - - - to me if we are going to compare this corona virus to the flu then we will need at least a full year of experience with it and probably more - seriously how can we know or even think we know when its still this new????

yes and no. the flu never has, and never will have an antidote. the flu vaccine is engineered about 18 months in advance using a scientific wild ass guess by the medical researchers to figure out what kind of flu will show it's ugly head. chances are high they get it wrong and the vaccine is not as effective. even if they get it right the vaccine is actually a mild version of the flu, so that your body can manufacture antibodies to protect itself. they are already talking about testing people who have recovered from the covid 19 virus to see what antibodies their body has created. that's probably the best way to develop a vaccine for future occurrences.
