I mean seriously if you dont want your birth date known - put in a fake one, If you dont want your location known - put in a fake one. I am pretty sure there is no law against giving fake answers to face book questions

Law, no, but it is against their terms of service. Also, read through their ToS, you basically give them all rights and you get none. Pretty typical of free services online, just FYI

At this point in time thou they have already collected more information about us than we even know about...
the “pandemic” tracking is just another surveillance tool they want to add. They already know what kind of toilet paper you use And how much you use ..when you use those discount store member cards...Tracking every purchase...

I agree with the platform is good, but some of the people are crap. School I went to... Life, still learning.. I work at who really cares at who really cares.. nothing else is shared. My public profile only shows things I share to the public... Not to my "friends". I limit my friends to people that I actually know and not everyone. If one takes the time to look through FB settings it is really not that hard to see things one wants to see and block the rest. One can even limit which friends see certain posts...(I am in a couple of Veteran/Marine Corps closed groups) and there is a really fun time to be had there... takes me back to when I served and some mornings I am laughing so hard... it is all good.

As with anything Social Media is not for all. Some people get their underwear in a bunch over a post on a social media site and forget that it is the internet... Who really cares what is on there. When someone I know posts something that looks "fishy" I always take the time to check it out before I comment or share or whatever. Most of the memes I see on this page are on FB as well (and other social sites I am sure).

If one joins groups, the groups usually have "rules" for posting and the admins adhere to them really well... i.e. no political posts... and such.... In the Marine Corps site it is a free for all... but with minimal political crap and no reporting other Marines. If anyone gets butt hurt and reports someone the admins remove them publicly and let everyone know why they were removed. On the Polaris Slingshot Owners group they have a strict "no politics" and some guy posted a picture of his new cupholders that go above the Ride Command and look like they attach like the shade used to... but had a Trump hat on is dash... He was deleted from that group... A little much as he was talking about the cup holders... but that is how it is.

I believe as with anything... the black and white approach is not the best in our current world (probably never was) but for me it has been nice to connect with people I haven't seen since high school, and lots of Marines I served with.

Those are free options and if one really digs there is a bunch of data that gets shared and security for some sites is terrible... Zoom meeting have been hacked so many times that lots of businesses quit using it.. Skype is great for a closed network but not so much for internet traffic. Google Hangouts.... no offense brother, but if you think that is any better than FB... Google has a terrible record for privacy.. I don't know much about Webex....

Honestly, anything that goes out over the internet is subject to being hacked... Just my two cents..

the biggest issue with other options is their availability in the poor areas of where many of my wife's relatives in the Philippines live - most all of them have access to a smart phone and most all have facebook - - its the one thing they all already have and know how to use - - - in one of the provinces where we visited family last January if they want wifi access they have to walk down the street to a "wifi station" that is setup for the area and then put coins in to buy time and turn it on - there is an antenna sticking up about 40 feet and when someone puts coins in all the kids come out and gather around with their phones so that they can take advantage of the short time it will be on I think you get 30 minutes for a Philippine Peso.

Anyway my point is that other options that may seem easy for us do not always translate as well to all of the people my wife likes to stay in touch with - - heck in the beginning we tried skype and it worked for a few of her family especially the ones in Japan with computers and good wifi, but as time went by we kept being told that others had face book video, but couldnt do skype so we switched

also keep in mind that most of these people are our age or older and did not grow up with any technology at all not even close to what we grew up with - many of them need their kids just to get them on a facebook chat - - - heck in some of these areas of the provinces they never even had TV's growing up and even now you wont find one in most of the homes - - - its poor - and I mean really poor, not what we call poor here in america

agree 100% - - limit what you make public, and only have "friends" that are actually people you know - also only follow those who's posts you really want to see - - - its not that hard to control what others see and what you see - - the tools are there if you take the time to find them and use them

I hope you realize all these sites sell your personal info regardless of the privacy settings you use....it’s all available for sale.....criminals search those sites all day long looking for idiots that tell everyone in the world they aren’t home. or I’ll be in Maui next month...or I just hit the lotto...or big at the casino...or hey wish me happy birthday....so now they have your name and birthdate ..how old your kids are...when and where you graduated....Where and when you work....all the new stuff you just bought...how much it was and your monthly payments..everyone likes to brag ....look how many criminals turn themselves in with Self posted videos...

Dude, you don't have to put "your" birthday on there... And if one is stupid enough to post their travel plans.... Or anything personal for that matter...Nothing about my kids, graduated, or any of the fear rant you just posted...Come on man... do you live in this century??? These type of rants are on FB also.. they propagate fear... which is what is needed to be controlled. I know one may think they are not controlled because of thoughts like those above, but I submit they are more controlled...

In the end there is almost nothing about us that isnt already out there on the web and what isnt already public is constantly being hacked or stolen, or shared with another place where it could be hacked or stolen

personally if you want to be safe I think it would be better to assume the bad guys already know everything and take appropriate action like like locking your credit reports with the reporting agencies and getting fraud alerts put on them as well. also assume that when you leave your home that people will know you are gone and do what it takes to protect it as well

I think you will be much safer doing this than you will be trying to protect your information which is already in so many places on the internet that protecting it is already beyond your control

seriously think about all of the times you have ever given personal information - your employer, if you were ever in a retirement plan the people who handle that, your accountant, your employers accountant, every branch of the state and federal government you have ever dealt with, all of the doctors you have ever seen - and then all of the companies and businesses they deal with, your union, schools you may have attended, banks and financial institution credit card companies mortgage brokerages - - the list is almost endless of places that potentially have enough personal information about you to totally mess up your life all it takes is one mistake, one disgruntled employee, one hacker

having a place like facebook share the little bit of information you might give them isnt even close to what you already gave that 20 something teller at the bank who shares everything with her boyfriend the computer geek who lives in his mothers basement, Or that cute young thing you handed your credit card to at the restaurant who walked away with it and jotted down all of the information to share with her friend before she brought it back for you to sign

face it - all of your personal shit is out there already and worrying about it getting out again is a waste of energy that could be used to protect the things that need protecting

Another little update about my Barbie.

She keeps making progress with her rehabilitation, but it will take time.

I love to take care of her, I just purchase her a new wheelchair with wheelie bars (in Pic is in up position). She went with a PT down our steep staircase and the lady said you better watch out for her that she goes not to fast
