Since putting in the 4 point harnesses it's kind of a joke between wife and I who's going to unbuckle and get the garage remote outta the glove box when we get back to the house. Saw this Homelink opener is now clearance on Polaris site - going to try it. Anyone have it?
What was today's Sling project-Mods , goodies....?

Personally, I'd rather use some Velcro tape to mount a $10-20 universal garage remote designed for my garage door somewhere convenient under the dash or along the transmission tunnel., but I tend to look for the cheapest solution. The Polaris remote does at least fit in a switch opening in the dash and can handle more than one opener, too.

Started to Install the yellow top battery, it is a bear. In all the Videos Nobody Shows how to get the battery in the compartment. I made a contraption and figured this 45 lbs would be easy dough, also to connect the cables is hard to get to.
I ordered a new negative cable because the original one will not work. You have to lift the battery in an angle and it weighs only 45lbs
Yea but once its all done yiu wont regret it. Literally the best mod ive done for the SS. Forget about ever having yiur battery die on you.

I use a LiftMaster 890max for when I’m out on one of my motorcycles - only $25 to $30 & small…

I just put an extra opener in the cup holder. Have it there since 2015.

I've had that opener since they introduced it. Comes with a metal template to mark and cut the opening in the upper dash. Been flawless since installation and the new price is much easier to handle than what they used to be.

I just replaced mine too! With an interstate group 34 from Costco, less than $100. It was a struggle though! Had to replace the oem connectors too because they were so corroded.
But it's a tight fit and close to the welter exhaust tube...
What do y'all recommend to insulate or protect the battery down there?
I was thinking of something between the battery and exhaust... Like a sheet of something either coated or protected with some kind of insulator?
It's like a couple millimeters away from touching...
Aluminum tape?

This is one flaw I see in the 20+ slings. I don't see how you could ever squeeze a larger battery into that small area. It is hard to even get the connectors on.

That’s why I went with the optima red top instead of the yellow top. The red top is about an inch shorter in length. With mine installed and pushed as much as I could towards the drivers side I have about 1 3/4”to 2” clearance from the exhaust. Yours is probably too close. Wrapping the battery with aluminum tape would help. I believe Slingmods has some type of wrap for this issue. I remember reading here on the forum that FunCycle fabricated some type of heat shield out of aluminum. Maybe he will see this and chime in on what he done. Don’t wait to long before addressing this issue, I am sure it would not take long for the exhaust heat to melt your battery.

When I had the ZZP rear exhaust I used this exhaust wrap from Amazon - never had issues with battery getting hot - https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01KVYH66U

I just used a thin piece of alum. I think 3 inch by 10 inch. Punched two holes with a chiesel 1 inch up and I think it was 8 inches apart. Then used two hose clamps to strap this around the frame tube toward the inside of the battery tray. This acts as a heat shield and a battery stop.

Thank you Frankie55 , SlingSC , 3GunSteve , and FunCycle!
I also read last night on the old forum, someone cutting the plastic in the driver's side behind the seat storage to be able and slide the battery further to the left. Not sure if I want to make that permanent cut though...?
I will go with tape on the battery, try to push more to the left, and see about wrapping that section of the exhaust.
Or... May just downsize to a group 25 battery. 😐

I think the original large batteries were group 26.

Yes

I think the original large batteries were group 26.
That is correct for the 2015 batteries. I installed a Group 25 Optima in the 2015 Sling I

I’m done with the installation of the optima yellow top battery, had to wait for the new ground cable
I think I should be fine with the heat from the exhaust pipe it’s a little over an inch space

After having hit a few hard-to-see speed bumps and raised lane dividers during night rides, I'm afraid I have a few marks like those shown in @MyToy's picture.
-
Dang mytoy What have you been bouncing on!!?? OUCH!
I hope that wasn't from banging your head on the frame trying to install that battery!

Well, I ended up getting this:
And this:
That should be good right? In addition to moving it as far left as it can go.
Weekend project on the list!
