Mechanic checked front tires and said my upper ball joints have play in them and should be replaced, doubt that I'm covered under any warranty , I have a 2016 SL SE with 57,200 miles on them. Does anyone have Part numbers or know where I can get the right parts?

Upper Ball Joint Part# 7061188 I would call Scott Riley at Sport Rider in WI. 715-834-0244 He usually has everything I need in stock. Met him in Maggie last year. Great guy and I like supporting people I know in the industry. If you do not want to go through him you could use Cheap Cycle Parts.com but their shipping seems to be high and there is usually a long lead time on some parts. https://www.cheapcycleparts.com/oemparts/a/pol/5639e66f87a86607c020a7c3/suspension-front-asm-all-options Both Polaris and cheap cycle parts list that part at $69.99. No idea was Sport Rider sells them for.

My doctor told me the same thing yesterday...

Partsshark.com but I have never ordered from them

I typically check these sites for parts -
https://www.cheapcycleparts.co…/polaris_motorcycle/parts
https://www.partshark.com/oemp…/polaris_motorcycle/parts
https://www.ronniesmailorder.c…/polaris_motorcycle/parts
https://www.cyclepartsnation.c…/polaris_motorcycle/parts
https://www.powersportswarehou…/polaris_motorcycle/parts
https://www.powerpartsplus.com…/polaris_motorcycle/parts
Different parts can have markedly different prices on different sites. Shipping can also make a difference and some sites offer free shipping once a total order cost is reached. Depending on what parts are needed, it can even be cheaper to order from different sites to get the best overall price for everything.

Seriously? 57,000 miles and you need new ball joints. Are you driving on a washboard? Were they “Oh my gosh I have to replace him now - bad” or just showing a little wear? I have a 2016 as well with about half the miles . Inquiring minds would like to know 🤔

as Bkl mentioned above, ww.powersportswarehouse.com is my favorite, as I find it almost always has the best prices.

Just a little wear, tire moves about 1/8 to 3/16 when pushed on

No expert here but I think that is significant! Glad you caught it. Any insight on if your situation is typical or if perhaps you got a "bad batch"? I have a 2016 as well and this is the only vehicle I purchased the 6 year warrantee on. Had you had the warrantee WOULD it have been covered? Or is this like breaks - a consumable?

On my 2015 had to replace my uppers at 12,000 and then again at 30,000. If you jack up the sling and check they may feel tight, but if you raise up the A-arm to unload the pressure, I had a lot of movement. I acknowledge that I was a very abusive driver.

I had my SS inspected by a car mechanic (licensed to inspect cars and motors) twice now.....he checked my ball joints as you would on a car or truck. It’s part of the 4 wheel safety inspection procedure...it’s not something a two wheel motorcycle mechanic would ever have to do....two different inspection procedures...
Think about it.......it’s one more reason for having a regular mechanic work on your SS vs SS dealer. Unless you need warranty work or actual polaris parts installed....It’s a typical car from the back of the seats forward.....
car tires, car wheels, car brakes, car calipers, car motor, car steering wheel, car seats, car gas pedal, car transmission, car a arms...and ball joints, car shocks...car clutch..... -
Not quite so fast. While some parts appear to be "car parts", they are not an oem part that can be bought off the shelf at a GM dealer or Auto Zone. There's no disk brake caliper, power steering rack that fits a production car. I'm not 100% sure about the control arms, but I don't believe those are Polaris only parts as well
-
for the purpose of a safety inspection....you would not be able to tell if they are polaris or GM parts.....only if you had to change them would you notice....the inspection procedure would be the same..for worn or broken parts...
for that reason a car mechanic could probably change the parts just as easy or easier than a two wheeler mechanic..
car parts have different part manufacturers between Ford, GM or Dodge or VW....but they are very similar looking..
where do they put the ball joints on a harley? That’s my point......the parts are more similar to a car than a Harley...
