During longer rides I have noticed how nice it would be to have a folding armrest over the cup holders. Just my lazy ass or has anyone else thought of this?
FOLD DOWN CENTER ARMREST

I was thinking more along the lines of something you could mount by hinge to the area below the cig lighter that folds up and down.

If it is a fold down armrest, cup holders would be inaccessible...
So, build a foam arm rest that fits down into the cupholders. Throw armrest behind seat when not in use.

I think you are onto something here... design hinged arm rests that an be bolted on, that include cup holders! Solve this problem and fosterpe question.

I thought about making a fold-over drink holder that would allow me to position my drinks above the parking brake handle. The drink holder could be folded up toward the passenger seat for access to the parking brake. I figured it could be mounted to the trans tunnel on the passenger side and would probably still need to be back a bit to allow access to the shifter.
I should add that I have become used to using my left hand to reach under my right arm to grab my drink and put it back. Since I ride mainly at night, this sometimes can be a problem if I have my left hand holding the drink and my right hand ont he steering wheel, making ti awkward to dim my headlights if I suddenly meet and oncoming vehicle.

Something like this would cover airoutlaws style. I don't have my SS available at this moment but will fill in actual dimensions if any one is interested. After I have the actual dimensions I will draw what I think would be a hinged would look like.

Great drawing, and love the easter egg.

I was not looking for the cup holders, just comfort.

That drawing is a good start. As long as the armrest is easily removable for access to the parking brake, you could also add some optional cupholders, shifted slightly to the passenger side to allow the driver to still rest his arm on the diver's side. I guess fitting such a combo of functional armrest and usable cupholders between the seats above the parking brake and making the product reasonably affordable, say under $100, would be the big challenge. The main reason for making it easily removable is to allow access for lubing the U-joint on those Slingshots that still use them.

I concur. Got mine installed in MV and have loved it ever since.
