Looks interesting with total costs as low as $9000, if you're lucky and frugal.
Here's a link to a still-in-progress build - http://dfkitcar.com/forum/inde…-model-turbo-install.219/

Anybody in Texas thinking of buying one better think again.
Pretty cool
I have been looking into these. Spoke with a few guys who have built them and they all say the hardest part is the wiring harness. There are a full set of build videos.
Price is less than the 4 wheel conversion for the SS

Wiring cannot be that hard. If you are not an electrical person, it is just one circuit ( one wire) at a time, do not look at the whole electrical. It is just like putting the thing together, it is just nuts and bolts one at a time. I have wired two cars with kits and two cars one wire a a time. If I could just get this extra car to it's home I would have room to do this.

They use the entire harness from the donor car
Once you strip it out you have to remove all the unneeded wires and extend some.

Not a problem, I cannot find either car around here / none. We could put one of these together if we were in the same area

This is just another example of Texas' so-called business-friendly status harming a Texas manufacturer.

I noticed that, too. Assuming I could find a Cobalt totaled due to rear-end damage & The Texas Legislature & DMV ever manage to get their collective heads out of their As.es. It was just silly politics that kept Texas from allowing sale of the Slingshot from being sold in 2014 and made everyone wait until the Legislature passed a law clarifying the Slingshot's status effective May/June 2015. The Texas State Senator who headed the Senate's Transportation Committee, after a die-hard motorcyclist/personal friend complained to him about the Slingshot being classified/sold as a motorcycle, nixed an agreement that would have allowed the Slingshot to be sold in 2014 with the understanding that the Slingshot's status would be changed during the 2015 legislative session. A single politician's arbitrary position held up Slingshot sales for Texas for 7 - 9 months.
To me, riding in the SS is no different than riding in a dune buggy....
Very cool!

Politics in Texas can suck just as much as politics in DC. I will always wonder how much money Polaris had to give to a particular governors champagne fund to get the evil deed done.
I went to testify at the Texas Senate Transportation Committee's session where the Slingshot legislation was on the agenda. I met up with a fellow Slingshot owner whose State Senator turned out to be the cause of the delay. He wasn't very happy that his Senator had held up Slingshot sales on an arbitrary whim.
I sold the dune buggy right after I bought the SS.
