We have a bill in Oregon being voted on by the state senate next Tuesday to stop this madness. I actually sent a letter to my reps asking them to vote yes. If it passes we the voters will get to vote on it next year. Then we have to get the feds to allow it.

Florida voted for this over a year ago, congress never acted on it one way or the other so we still flip the clocks.

Well if they get rid of this it will take affect in 2023. Does that nean we leave the clocks at the fall set time? If so, that will suck. Means it will get lighter earlier in the am and dark earlier in the evening. I prefer stay day light longer in the pm. No worry, our leaders will screw this up also.

the current bill that the Senate passed yesterday is supposed to make daylight savings time the regular time which would mean the sun comes up later and stays up later - - right now under federal law any state can choose to stay on "standard" time where the sun comes up earlier and goes down earlier - - no congressional approval is needed for that
as a side note Arizona never changes time they are one of the few states that is always on "standard" time - I heard that yesterday when the Senate passed this the Senator from Arizona let out a cheer - - seems even a State that never changes their clocks would rather be on daylight savings time all of the time and have the sun stay up later

States have always had a choice - the option to stay on "standard" time year round has always been an option - - Arizona is an example of a State that never changes to daylight savings time

It isn't that bad. I grew up in NE Alabama just a few miles from the GA state line on the border of the Eastern and Central Time Zone line. Half the people I grew up with went by "fast time" since their parents worked in GA or TN so their house was on Eastern Time. The other half worked in Central Time Zone and went by "slow time". We were just accustomed to verifying time zone when working out meeting times, etc. If you live close to a time border you it isn't a big deal since you are used to it. The biggest problems I've seen when travelling is that if you stay close to the time zone border you usually have to use an alarm clock vs your smart phone since the system time may change depending on which cell tower it is connected to at the time. We were staying in a hotel one time that was close to a time zone border and there were several signs in the room telling people to use the hotel alarm clock and not their phone for that very reason.

as a side note you should try driving around the Colorado river area in Arizona - Arizona does not observe daylight savings time but many of the Indian tribes do also depending on where you are your cell phone might connect to a cell tower on the California side - - literally as you drive around the time on your phone might be jumping back and fourth between standard time and daylight savings time as it connects to towers on tribal land, Arizona land or the California side - - - its rather entertaining

Trash your watch and buy a Sun Dial you will see the Sun always comes up and goes down when it is supposed to. Moving the time is just screwing with Mother Nature, and that is not good.

the sun going up and down is Mother Nature - - - Time and the 12/24 hour day and minutes and seconds are all inventions of man intended to try to track what Mother Nature has created. And even at it best our time is still not accurate requiring leap years and even regular scheduled "leap seconds" to bring in back into line with nature.
As you point out, no matter what "time" we say it is the sun will still go up and own when nature says it will. If we call it 5am when it comes up or 6 am changes nothing other than the other activities that we have assigned "times" to
Seriously if you have no place to be and always get up when the sun comes up you probably don't care if the clock says 5 or 6
On the other hand if your employer has assigned 5:30 am as your work start time then what that clock says becomes what's important regardless of if the sun is up or not -

Oh God! - - people might have to learn to tell time a different way - - Oh Shit! they might have to think!!!!

Only time I need now is shooting time is 30 minutes before sun rise till 30 after Sun set for turkey.
