Where’d this come from?

  • <p>Found this machine screw on the ground behind my Slingshot yesterday. Any ideas where it may have fallen out of? It is 4.4 mm hex.

  • Something you .The SS undercarriage picked up on the road..

And fell off ....Or it was laying there from someone else's vehicle... Like how many times have you go back to the parked SS and then notice a oil spot and wonder if its from your SS.. When it was there already..=O..

Some times a Cigar is just a Cigar.......

Possibility. Everything seems to be well attached. Sling was running fine when I put her away last time. Polished her up with some detailer and put the cover on but did not notice anything missing/loose. Who knows....

  • Is it possible that it was in the open hole on the top of the swing arm that many have plugged with a screw? That hole is open to the inside of the swingarm and therefore, the bearings and sensor.

  • with all that rust on the shank and spring washer I would say that wherever it was it sure couldn't have been tight. It it had been I would think those areas would have been protected from the elements

  • Also looks like headlight bolts... Looks familiar from when I took off my assemblies to install the custom rugged ridge LEDs Patrick gave me.

If I'm not mistaken, it may be a blinker bolt.

I’ll have to take a closer look at the turn signals. The headlight bolts are really long. About 2 inches if I remember.

  • John Price

    Hey John:

I did a quick walk around my slingshot looking for allen head bolts like that and only two really really jumped out at me. The metal plate that holds the spring and cable to the rear brake for the parking brake has two screws that look just like what you found, here are two pictures I took. the first bolt is right there at the top. The other is directly below that one and if you look you can just see it in the second picture. there is a third bolt that also seems to serve as the stop for the actuator arm, but the head on it is about 1/2 inch long so that it can stick out - it is to the right in the first picture and is very different - I am not seeing the spring washer, but you might want to check these

Other that that nothing jumps out that is easily seen there really dont seem to be a large number of allen bolts used at all, most seem to be torx or normal hex head

  • Polaris factory parts bin 17A row 9 isle 3

Check your transmission cross bar to see if it's missing any fasteners. Could also be an interior bolt that finally found its way to a hole. Weigh the vehicle to see

if it is actually a SS part or from your lawn mower.

  • Maybe for the next round of "Where'd this come from?", you could dumb it down a bit for general audiences...

Something like a Polaris badge, lug nut, roll bar...:/

    Back to the original question...

For a hint, what type receiver did it come out of? :POKESS:

Slingshot Flyer! Well, of course it's red... :REDSS:
