As I'm driving I hear a screeching sound, not sure where it's coming from but it's only when I press the gas pedal. When I release the pedal it stops so I know it's not the wind catching on anything cause I don;t hear it while I'm coasting.

Yep, I would bet drive belt also, I have been going through this myself recently. Like Hunter suggested, try scrubbing the belt first, if that doesn't do the trick then make sure that the belt is not too loose, (has the temperature dropped there recently?)

BillYes the temp has dropped here and I also noticed the sound was louder today. Which belt is the drive belt that I should wash

Oops, sorry, but yes, the drive belt! You may find that when cold the belt will holler, but once it warms up it very well may go quiet again...............

The belt that drives the rear wheel.

Make sure it’s not the neighbors cat stuck under the hood...

@samowens44 I watched your video on the drive belt alignment and I took a picture of mine for you to see if I need an alignment or not. I'm having a screeching sound only when I press the gas pedal. It completely stops when I release the pedal.

It looks like you could do an alignment to have belt closer to the inboard side of the Pully. You also need to look at the adjustment and if the belt and pully are clean. Sometime, a little soap and water and wash the pulleys and the belt teeth. A dirty belt can make noise. Good luck.

@frehleycomet, wife and I are both having the same issue with each of ours. Happens most of the time in first and second then sometimes when cruising then getting on it hard. Thought it was just her SS and now mine is doing it more often. The sound/squeal is coming from the front and not the rear. I have ridden in and alongside my wife’s SS while trying to figure out the sound. Only does it under load too so can’t get the sound while in the garage. I will be working on them this week/weekend. Again, the sound is in front. Not the rear.

Unfortunately, showing a single picture of your belt at a particular time really does not tell much. Our belt positions itself differently if I check it just as I pull off the highway, or after backing up, out of a turn, hot, cold, you get the idea. Maybe it might help if you check out this thread: Drive Belt, FYI, What it should not do back there!, as well as others?

Mine does this as well. I feel like it's a vacuum leak, but can't find either. Hopefully you find the cause on yours so I have something to look for.

@BryanL Taking mine in today to get the recalls taken care of and I mentioned this issue to them So as soon as I know something I'll pass it on.

Like i said before i cleaned the drive belt and it stoped the squeal/whistle .....Once when it started again right after a heavy rain, I Purposely steered into a puddle to get the belt wet then the noise stopped , I only have 26 hundred miles on the S/S and i'm thinking that as the belt sets in a little residue/power coming off the belt is causing the noise...
And yes it would do it only under a load ;IE On and off the accelerator..
