I recently replaced a truck battery. It showed 12.3 volts but but dropped to 8.0 under load.
Hope this helps

The only way to get a accurate test of a battery is under a heavy load. Check the voltage while cranking the engine or buy a load tester or take the battery to a auto parts store and have them test it.
funcycle suggested to test output with muti meter. Will do that but at the moment it's working. Wonder if supercharger takes more battery power to turn over.
No, the volt meter just let's you know what is going on

Thx thought I might have that wrong. I'm just going to get the Group 25 Optima AGM
Not trying to start anything here, but my 2015 (took delivery Nov 2014) is still on the original battery. At this rate, when it's time to replace it, if I have enough time to wait, I'm leaning towards getting one from Polaris. 4+ years to a factory battery warrants consideration for one of them as a replacement one when needed
Hee hee, just for fun, our battery in our 2015 is sneaking up on double of that four years now!
While relocating the Grasshopper to it's new home in Montana here in the next month or so, I am thinking of stopping at one of the dealers en-route to purchase an OEM replacement.

Well, seeing how that post was 4 years ago, and it's still on the original battery, I guess I got one of the good ones from polaris

ME TOO!!!!!
still have my original battery as well, works fine
I Installed in May 2021 a new Optima Battery, Yellow Top, 12 V, Deep Cycle, 750 Cold Cranking Amps, Top/Side Post, BCI Group 34/78, and it does not hold the charge anymore.
I contacted Summit Racing Equipment "supplier for the battery." and mentioned that the battery has a manufacturer warranty. of 3 Years. Long story short they are sending me a new replacement battery at no cost to me, don't have to send "old one back." Yes, they are not cheap but, in my case, money well spend plus excellent customer service.
I was told once that if the Optima battery sits up a lot they do not hold up.

I had it in use, also always on the Battery Minder model 2012. $$it happens 😀
Here is some info
This means the OPTIMA battery can sit for longer periods while retaining enough charge to start your vehicle when stored and maintained properly. Depending on storage temperature and the state of charge when put into storage, it can usually sit for eight to 12 months and still start most vehicles.
I have ayellow optima in Sling I which is over three years old. It stays on a Norco tender also.

HUH????
You drop a small fortune on a battery..... and it shits the bed in 2 years??
That's money well spent???
I still have my original 2014 battery...
I don't keep it on a tender.
(What am I missing here.....somebody tell me....I'm gonna lose sleep!!)

well I added an amplifier, subwoofer and speakers. What I meant if the battery was form a different MFG with the same CCA I’m not sure they would have replaced it free of charge.

I also recently changed my battery out for the same reason - still running the stock size, but it was over 5 years old and I just figured batter safe than sorry - my new one is also the stock size, but its a Duracell. and even though I ride regularly and its almost new I still plug in the battery minder when its parked in the garage - just to keep it in tip top shape
As a side note my Slingshot has had nothing added that would increase the draw on the battery, not even a single light
Just replaced my 2020R battery as it went belly up as in grave yard dead. A got a Durcell AGM with the same ratings as the ordinal from Batteries Plus a bitched about the price all the way home.
Not wanting to throw fuel on the fire, but I'm on my original 2019 stock battery too, with amplifiers, lights, back up camera, etc. I even installed a 2nd 50amp fuse box (although I'm not using near that much).
I changed both Sling I and Sling II out at around 4 years because I was spending so much time away from home riding.
