Kind of wanting to hear from people in that area to see if I might like to move there. Would Fredricksburg, Texas be a better place? Just checking my options.
Anybody here live in Kerville, Texas?

Personally, I think Fredericksburg is a little more expensive as it's primarily a tourist spot. It certainly has excellent German restaurants and I can find currywurst there! My Wife's Aunt had a 2-bedroom/2-bath house there, but sold it a couple years ago. Don't remember the price.

See Kerrville-Texas.htmlPersonally, I'd choose Kerrville due to its location near good riding roads and I-10 is right there if you need to get someplace larger quickly. Fredericksburg, TX is only about 30 minutes away. My Wife's Sister moved to Louisana and just her Cousin and Aunt still live here int eh Houston area. If we stay in Texas, I'd certainly want to consider Kerrville for more medical access, cheaper living costs, etc. Regular gas is currently around $2.59/gallon.

I know what you mean. Even though we live 30+ miles north of Houston, Friday afternoon rush hour traffic seems to start around 3 pm! At least I can still see cows within a few miles of my house.
Ideally, I'd like to have my gun range in the backyard, but my Wife and I also need to be reasonably close to medical care. Back in 2006, when we first started searching for where we might move to in Texas after we retired from the Washington, DC area, we liked the Canyon Lake area, but if we needed emergency medical care, we figured we'd be dead by the time the local ambulance crew got to us and then decided to call a helicopter, so we decided to be closer to a bg city and hospitals. -
That's one of the things I like about Kerrville, they have a VA and I think two other hospitals. Your right on with your info as I looked much of it up already. I can't go anywhere around here without following gravel and cement trucks, there everywhere. To much building going on. In another couple of years it will be gridlock around here.
My folks had a store 45 miles outside of Kerrville. If I had only Kerrville or Fredericksburg I would probably go with Kerrville...personally I would live in the country outside of either place

Those would be my thoughts as well... Just need to be close to doctors and grocery store for the most part. My wife's lungs are kind of shot so need to be close.

I have been watching the homes for sale since last year in Kerrville and Fredericksburg. I like Kerrville better, an looking for just what she said , just outside either one. I have to say both are little pricey.

It's a sellers market right now, good for me selling but they'll get me back buying. Hope to do a break even deal if things happen.

I love Kerrville, but needed to stay closer to jobs in SATX since I am not ready to retire just yet. I do have dreams of buying 10+ acres outside of Kerrville in the future. For now, the extreme north SATX I'll call home. Just outside of the city limits.
