I bought the Optima charger when I replaced my battery.
Think it was around 100.00 dollars which was high but so was the yellow top battery.

I looked at that but no option for using the 12 Volt plug. I can't be taking the battery cover off every time I want to trickle charge.
Just use the same wire you use for the battery tender jr. The plug on the end of the Optima Charger is the same (sae)

It was really difficult to tell by the pictures if I could do that - you can't see the connections. But on your say so, that's great news and I will order this one. THANKS!
Harbor freight float charger---they are normally on sale for $5.99...Cut the clips off on the output wires and wire in a cig lighter power plug (test for proper polarity--center is positive). I use the HF float charger on several different batteries, RV, Sling, Motorcycle, aircraft with good success. Fully charged batteries tend to sulfate a heck of a lot less than discharged ones and add a lot of longevity to the life of the battery.
By the time you pay for the special charger and the optima battery you could have bought at least 3 lead acid batteries that would have lasted longer than your SS will. 12- 15 years.
I'll stick with a standard batt and my Batt Tender Jr. Might think differently if I were running a ton of aftermarket goodies.
I like the optima blue top and I use a Genius 3500 maintainer to keep it tip top. This maintainer has a repair mode to keep the optima at its best.
I use the battery rings to connect to battery and there is enough room on top right corner for the wire to come through the battery cover. No cutting and it looks good with just the connector sticking out. Check it out on Amazon. $59
