Received this code 0 598 2 yesterday just as I got back from a ride. I did a reboot (battery disconnect) with no change.
Red Rocker how did it turn out when you took your to the dealer?
Thanks!

Display MoreYall are correct about this being a bad or erratic clutch switch. I have not seen this error code on more that a few slingshots over the last couple of years.
Some of us have replaced the brake switch with a mechanical switch from NAPA. I would guess you could do this to the clutch switch as well. But if it's under warranty I would let them swap it and see if it last for a while longer.
You can always change over to mechanical switches if you have to later.
I bought this....haven’t replaced it yet...

Many thanks Bigdog. At this time my sling is under warrantee (I have a 4 year). I'm limiting any electrical modifications until after the warrantee expires.
Thanks for the info!

….I installed that on mines and noticed the difference from the OEM brake switch, which at times when I took my foot off the pedal would see the delay in the brake light going out, now it goes out once you remove your foot off the brake pedal
I burnt out a brake switch already trying to add an electrical mod....

You can also make the bracket for the mechanical switch in just a few minutes with a hack saw and a drill motor and a short piece of alum. 1/8 to 3/16 inch thick. About 1 inch wide and I think it was about 3 inch long. I was one of the first two or three to make this bracket and buy the NAPA brake switch to install on the Slingshot. My dealer did not like it to start with but it sure solved a lot of headaches later. We were again talking about it just a few days ago about the stock system being such a pain in the ass.

I advise people to take a good look at the magnetic bracket before they order the replacement. But the store bought one is a direct change out I hope.
Called the dealer that I bought it from yesterday in Ft. Myers FL and was told to bring it in today. The girl writing up the order tried to charge me as if it were a repair. After 25min we finally came to the understanding that this is a warranty issue. At that point she said "well we are really backed up and might be able to get to it at the end of next week so why don't you give us a call then". Also that the manager couldn't find the code and they needed to do a full diagnostic. I knew this dealer has bad reviews on their service deptartment but was willing to give them a chance. Nope not any more! Thankfully we have another dealer close by in Punta Gorda so I drove it straight there. They were professional, knew the problem and made an appointment for early next week to fix the sensor. The only reason I didn't buy my SS from them in the first place is that their inventory sits outside.
I bought my at same dealer and had issues with them also in past. Been taking it to Destination Powersports in Punta Gorda that is a great dealer to work with. I was up there last week to get a code cleared and they did it in a few minutes, for free.

It's a "brake" switch, it's supposed to "break"
