Myrtle Beach Bike Week 2016

  • Anyone going to Myrtle Beach Bike Week, I am thinking of going from May 19 -22 and was wondering if your going, what dates and where are you staying.... would love to meet up with everyone.... I'm either staying at a condo in Surfside or a hotel in Mount Pleasant to avoid the Sunday bottleneck on 501 going home....

  • I'm going but will probably be on the Harley. We stay at springmaid beach resort in garden city.

When your dreams at night disappoint you because your reality kicks their ass...you know you have figured out life.

For those people leaving Myrtle Beach it is best to take 17 south to Hwy. 521 in Georgetown. It is a little out of the way for some, but if you would rather sit in traffic have at it. More and more people that come to Myrtle Beach a lot have figured this out. @Bubblehead could be half way home by the time he got out of the traffic if he did this.

  • I live here so I will be there every day. Back in the good old days before Myrtle Beach screwed it up, for me before I retired Thursday's was North Myrtle, Friday's was Barefoot landing, Saturday was for Murrel's Inlet. I did this every year left the house early to avoid the traffic and stayed in each area all day. Now I spend most of my time in the South End area except Thur. and Fri. This past fall rally there was nothing going on anywhere, very very few vendors at all. Give me a shout out if you are coming. Oh, I forgot Coastal Victory/Indian, Polaris is trying to cover them up with Slingshot's for bike week to sell.

  • Just booked,
    Litchfield Beach & Golf Resort
14276 Ocean Hwy, Pawleys Island, SC,

    &108.00 per night down from $234.00 Hotels.com

Hey @FunCycle & @MISC come up with a day/time/place we could all meet up and grab a lunch and a few cold ones.... need ample parking for the SS's

  • I think in the Marshwalk area on Saturday the 21st between noon and 1pm would be good. There is lots of parking there although getting all the Slings side by side might be tricky. There are about 10 restaurants within walking distance there and most of them have a view over the Inlet. Would be cool after lunch to take the Slings to Belin Church next door and get a pic of the Slings side by side there with the Inlet in the background. There are other smaller clusters of restaurants about 1/2 mile and 1 mile south of the Marshwalk that are usually not as crowded. King Street Grill is a good one on the South end of Murrells Inlet.

  • Yep Coastal has had about 5 to 6 new Slings sitting out front all week.

Jason said another dozen for bike week. We stopped in last Friday 2 Red -- 2 White -- 1 Silver -- 1 black. He said that they had 6 available for sale. They have sold right at 300 total since day one, all up and down the East coast. Just left the dealer 27 Slingshots on site for sale. One blue SS sold and one is still available, but they have not received the blues yet.

  • Well what does everyone that is going to be there think about Saturday May 21st at Dead Dog Saloon in Murrells Inlet? Can meet there around starting around 12:30 and eat at 1:00. If you can't park directly in front of the Dead Dog there are plenty of spots across the street and along side Dead Dog. After lunch if you want to take the Slings next door to the church lot overlooking the Inlet we should be able to get a pic of all the Slings together. The Inlet makes a great back drop pic for our rides.

Sounds good to me, but it is going to be crowded.

  • Sounds good to me, but it is going to be crowded.

EVERYWHERE will be crowded on the peak weekend of the rally. First weekend won't be bad but the second weekend is a zoo. We can scope out the crowd and just meet in the Belin church lot at 12:30 and decide where to eat if y'all want to try that.

  • You are not telling me anything new. My first was before 1957, since 1971 I have been in the middle of it every year except for 4 years ago when I was to sick to go. I remember the years that there was almost no traffic flow in Myrtle Beach because of the vendors and the people ( shoulder to shoulder ) I do not think it will ever get back to as big as it was when Myrtle Beach tried to shut bike week down. They did not care how much money it cost them until it all disappeared. Bike Week was a lot of business profit for the year, then it disappeared. Back in those days it was a grid lock from Murrel's Inlet north to North Myrtle Beach Harley and west on Hwy 501 to the race track. For those that do not know, get a map and look at the area I am talking about. Oh, and by the way this was before the bypass was ever built.

  • So if I we're to get up Wednesday night at midnight with several hundred in cash in my pocket. And nothing to do for the next few days. Would it be worth the drive up in the SS to Myrtle Beach for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. (10 hours each way)

And does anyone know of a inexpensive hotel to stay at. I'm tapped out on mad money from Panama City. I just have my Maggie Valley money squirreled back.

  • On the way to Maggie Valley, stop over to the casino in Cherokee. they have tons of money and they give out to almost everyone who goes there. Just don't be too shy to ask for some. That's what toobad4u, Stickedick and I are going to do in Biloxi to at least get some gas money for the trip out to California and the slingshot's across America ride by Ivor this August

    Nobody gets outta here ALIVE

  • Yeah lets try and meet in the Belin United Methodist Church parking lot closest to the Inlet and boat ramp between 1230 and 1245 on Saturday the 21st. I'll do a drive by on some of the popular eateries beforehand and see where we can get the Slings and we can decide where we want to eat. Hopefully the weather will cooperate. 50% chance right now but that could change many times before Saturday.

Can you give me an address I can plug into the Garmin, not familiar with the area.
