looking for any info on touching up the powder coated frame on the slingshot. I have a 2016.5 with the red frame that sustained a significant scratch over the weekend from the dealer and trying to find a solution to remedy this other than obviously replacing the frame. They tried putting a leather sleeve over the scratch which just isn't going to work long term. From my limited knowledge on powder coat touching up a spot isn't really possible without redoing the entire piece? I'm trying to currently use various touch up paint but having a difficult time matching the red on the frame. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

I believe that would be up to your dealer to figure out how to repair it. You are certainly being more kind in this issue than many would.

Oh I couldn't agree more. It was definitely a very trying situation when picking up. Once I got home I noticed the outter wing panel they replaced wasn't even attached along the top and is half hanging off. I truthfully don't want them touching it any further so having them repair anything else is what I'm trying to avoid.

Is that what it says in your dealers window?

I can get one closer if need be but this gives you an idea of location.

No. Lol... There's not a window there at the moment cause it was busted out when their showroom was broke into the night before my service. But I'll definitely send them the pic for a suggestion when they get the window replaced.

A dealer with too lazy a tech to use a hand tool for a single screw ...... they deserve having this and their shoddy warranty work elevated to to the mother-ship ....
-
A couple of options that I would think would work fine.
1. Find touch up paint that matches and see how it looks
2. Find you favorite color/style of vinyl wrap material and wrap it - carbon might look good
3. Wrap the bar with parachute chordPaul did #3 to his exposed frame. It looks really good and protects from future damage.

I tried contacting a dealer a little further out, at the suggestion of the guy I bought it from because he has a good relationship with them and swears by them. After talking to a warranty guy there seems that going above the dealer may not get me much further but definately a situation they should be aware of so I guess that call will be tomorrow.

Touch up was going to be first try I guess but vinyl didn't cross my mind. Have a ton of scrap vinyl so may try and see if matching the red would be possible. The parachute cord is definitely out of the box thinking and exactly the kind of different options I was looking for before heading back to resolve this in the next couple days. I really appreciate it!

That paracord idea is really neat- I would like to try where the frame gets scuffed gettin in and out - have you seen it done or even better some pointers ???

The parachute chord looks and functions really nice! Haven't done it myself, as I've only seen it on Paul's machine.
If you Google it, you will see "How To" info.

Very interesting solution, paracord wrapping. Just did a Google search and there is a butt load of info, and you tube vids to show you how.
Found this supply place, may be more supply places but this looked like it had all you would need.

Some kind of a paracord braid maybe using two colors would color match the SS.
Look at this stuff...

Anybody got any ideas how to attach the 2 tag ends ??! Seen guys do amazing things with paracord.....but I ain’t one of em

Search lashing the end of a rope
I wrapped the grab handle with a leather strap. To make it fatter I first used about 5 layers friction tape. It’s sticky and helps hold the leather in place while you’re wrapping it. Then tucked the loose end under the last wrap. You can secure it with super glue.

So I had to take it back down this week because like I said earlier the panel was never fully attached. They couldn't get it to attach and blamed it on the panel. So they have had to order yet another panel and it should be here this week. Still no solution on the damage to the frame as right now the focus is getting the original panel issue taken care of but I don't see it ending well regardless.

While they had the panel off I got to see the damage they caused trying to fix the stripped out bolt. They didn't remove the problem bolt but instead just drilled next to it at an angle through the nut and ran in a self tapping screw. The new hole isn't fully threaded and the new bolt just wiggles out.
