I know I know, another audio thread.
Hey folks,
So today was listening to some music on the SS and then went to my buddy's car and heard his..... I wanted to rip my "system" apart.
The SS SL system just sounds muddy as hell compared to, anything I think.
Of course he did spent 1k on his setup so it better be good!
So I got to thinking, I would love to get my system started. I don't want to dish out 1 or 2 grand on a system all at once especially since now that it's getting colder here, I won't be riding this too much so it will be a waste.
I want to start with the basic, speaker upgrade.
Thinking more about it, I have two options:
1. Do a cheap upgrade now and then a big upgrade later on. The cheaper speaker like the Pioneer will get me better audio and then later I can get a really good marine grade one.
2. Just do a big upgrade for the speaker now so that I don't have to do another replacement again and can move onto the next item.
I kind of don't like wasting money especially since I know later on this will need to happen but my concern is that if I do a really good upgrade to the 5.25 speakers now, the stock head unit won't be able to run it and requires aftermarket amp, etc. The cheaper speakers will just work from the start.
What do you guys recommend? So many of us have done system upgrades so just wondering if anyone is in my shoes. 5.25 Speaker upgrade first but to go cheap now and then expensive later or just expensive now so future proof.
Can you also link any really good speakers for the 5.25 replacement? The only one that I came across that's dirt cheap are: Pioneer TS-G1345R but not marine so that kind of sucks (especially when it's washing time)
And yes I'd love to go 6.5 but that enclosure is $200 which is a bit much unless there is a way to get a 6.5 in there without surgery! Does the 5.25 to 6.5 adapter work well?
BTW:
future plan is to run all speakers via 1 amp
run a sub (or two) via another amp
head unit will be last to replace since they they so often (cosmetics)
