Sad news, truly, but to play devil's advocate....

If I was facing an end from stage 4 cancer, in not sure I wouldn't do the same. My family already has directions on what to do with me if I contract Lou Gehrig's Disease or dementia or anything like that.

It was posted on his FB that the injection (for his suicide) was denied. I had PM'd with him awhile back. A bit difficult at times because his English was broken up, and my anything else pretty much doesn't work. Very sad indeed, the medical system had been an uphill battle for him for years. He was very open with his life, and he had seen pain from a young age in one form or another. He put the needs of others before his at all times from what I saw. RIP....

I have watched a parent, an in-law and a cousin struggle with, suffer from, and eventually succumb to cancer and another debilitating disease.

Do I understand his decision - yes I absolutely do. And I think it takes immense strength for a person to make that decision.

IMO, It is so unfortunate our societies do not provide better options to the terminally ill and their loved ones.

Prayers and condolences for family and friends

He'd been posting on FB for quite a while now about his sickness. The last few weeks he seemed to be upset that they couldn't do anymore for him, understandably so. I think he committed suicide to be quite honest. I know that several of us had him as a friend on Facebook and it's sad to have his life end this way. May he rest in peace now cause he's had a couple of really bad years. Even as sick as he was, he was a master at his craft and continued doing it until the very end. I know some on this forum didn't like his stuff, but you can see some of his other accomplishments on Facebook. The man was extremely talented and loved what he did.
God rest his soul .

Again, from his FB page. It has been stated injection-suicide process isn't actually legal in Quebec. Remi may or may not have known this at the time he announced that was his choice and when he would do it. I did reach out to him a few hours before he planned to die, and he responded. I know he was very tired of fighting an hurting.

I don't know anything for sure about the fire. If injection-suicide isn't legal up there, this could have been his plan all along. We may never know, assuming it was his body in his creation. The body has not been identified as of yet.

Seen the picture of the burned sling and wondered if he new anyone here? I hope his death changes others who maybe able to reach out to the terminally ill in a positive way. My sympathy to his family and friends here in the states and abroad.

Speechless. I didn't know him but know many people who suffer from terminally ill medical problems and this is sad but he is in a better place. RIP and may God bless your friends and family.
