Before anyone tries to say what the Republicans want to do in the Senate is unfair lets look at the disparity in the way President Nixon and President Clinton were treated during their impeachment inquiries in the House as opposed to President Trump,
The Nixon and Clinton lawyers were allowed to participate every single day from the beginning to the end of the House impeachment inquiry, They were allowed to review evidence, suggest evidence, call witnesses and cross-examine witnesses.
By comparison during the 78-day impeachment inquiry into President Trump -- his lawyers were forbidden from participating for the first 71 of those days, In addition, they were were not allowed to call witnesses or cross-examine witnesses or to be there for the presentation or review of evidence.
Considering this I don't believe the House's Impeachment of Trump should have ever been allowed to make it to the Senate and to cry that the Senate is not not allowing a "fair" trial is downright laughable

My thoughts exactly. Note this aid occurred back in 2017 when he first took office. Ironic as he is in the process of impeachment for supposedly withholding aid?

Impeached by definition is pretty much the indictment part - - including Trump three Presidents have been "impeached" Andrew Johnson, Bill Clinton and now Donald Trump - - neither Johnson or Clinton were ultimately removed from office
Nixon probably would have been removed, but he resigned before the House formally impeached him so technically he was never impeached
up to now no sitting President has been impeached by the House and then removed from office by the Senate

Having said this I do want to share this bit of information on the impeachment of Andrew Johnson - Impeachment has been such a rare thing in our history and as such I suspect most of us know very little about the first impeachment of a President in our history.

I agree with you and the only thing it is doing is dividing the country more. BUT THAT IS REALLY WHAT THE DEMOCRATS ARE AFTER. I also am done with both threads on this subject.
