Conservative Politics & Daily Events Discussion

  • Agreed !! If a viable libertarian with just plain ole common sense I would join you in their support but we both know the big 2 will never allow that to happen. The left has gone crazy with all their giveaway programs and (I am pro life with some exceptions ) the right has gone batshit crazy on abortion in my state and others - the left is just as bad leaving no room for compromise. Such is the case in politics today with absolutely no chance for change no matter the victor in 2020

and that is all a part of their plan - the further and further apart they can push both sides the more secure their lock on keeping us divided

I seriously dont believe that any of these politicians truly support the extremes that they are pushing - they are simply another tool they are using to keep power by keeping us apart

sooner or later it is going to break - I really think people are starting to get fed up. even the "life long" whatevers are starting to reach their limits - nothing is getting done and people are pissed - - I just hope when the shit does hit the fan its hits it at the ballot box and not in the streets

if its in the streets I will need more ammo

  • It was long ago determined by psychologists that politics along with religion taps into the emotional side of the brain. So you can explain to someone with complete unbiased logic as to why any corrupt politician be they Trump, Clinton or anyone else is bad for the government until your blue in the face and it doesn't matter.

Those that have chosen their politician are emotionally tied to them so no matter how bad the politician screws up and shows how corrupt they are (i.e. currently Trump) they (supporters) will continue to justify their support namely by using the old standby "yeah but <enter name here> is so much worse". This would equally apply to the liberals who supported Clinton and now will support Biden. They will be making a strong case for "Anyone but Trump" in the coming years.

I last voted independent and the last politician I felt I could get behind was Ross Perot because he was sincere in trying to fix the country's issues back then. Since then it's been nothing but corrupt politicians, left, right or otherwise.

Having been a student of history all my life I feel strongly that Lincoln was the last truly ethical politician/president (Eisenhower, Carter and Truman are close). If you study closely how Lincoln became president you realize it was a total fluke. A perfect storm of the whig party collapsing thereby providing an opening in the already corrupt two-party (whig vs. democrat) system for someone outside the sphere of corruption to come in. And no he wasn't perfect but he was damn close.

Of course it's easy to blame the corrupt in power for manipulating the masses but in truth the masses want to be manipulated. They want to pick a side and root for their guy and scream "yes, we did it!" when they win an election and rub it in to those that picked the other guy. It's no different than picking a sports team and rooting for them to win the championship.

  • neostar - I agree with most of what you said with my take on it. IMO what is really dividing the country is the issues...

Free college - can’t pay for that

Medicare for all - people will die waiting to see a Dr or Specialist

Reparations - myself nor any of my family owned any slaves - why should I pay

Immigration - why should I have to pay for people here illegally??

$15 hour minimum wage - people will be laid off and replaced by robotics.

Felons voting in prison - REALLY !!

Abortion - just a total mess everywhere

Just these few issues right here to put 100 people in the room gonna be 50 on one side and 50 on the other - unless people realize they are not ever gonna get 100% of anything they want.

I might not be right but I can sure sound like it

  • The issues are doing it, but I'd not say that was that was the main cause. Before the extreme Left asked for (you may also read that as demanded) all of this, there was something that was chiseling away at division long before. They did it using Race, Religion, Sexual preference, Left or Right, Liberal or Conservative, Democrat or Republican, Pro choice or Pro life, Gun control or 2A supporter, and with the Women's liberation movement, female or male. That's just to name what comes off the top of my head before my first cup of Java.

The bottom line here is this. United we stand, divided we fall. It's easier to control those not united, and it's easier to take the wealth from the divided as well. They want the power, and the money, and they just want us to bow to their agendas. By dividing us, it makes the end goal much easier to attain.

  • AOC must be dumber than a box of rocks. During a recent town hall meeting, she chimed in on foreign influence in our elections. She wanted to know why people were allowed to go to POLAND to vote in our elections? When questioned where she heard that, she responded that it's in the papers before every election: ....... go to the POLES and vote

    j/k

Don't hate the messenger - hate the message

    Nobody gets outta here ALIVE

  • The thing that scares me the most is could anyone even imagine where we would be if Clinton has won where we would be now???We the Dem shift to the far left the economy would be in the toilet, immigration - the last one in Guatemala please turn the lights off, ICE gone, N Korea firing missiles like the Fourth of July, giveaway programs exploding and for those that think Trump is corrupt - give Hillary the keys to the kingdom - hold her beer - you ain’t seen nuthin yet!! From my perspective Trump is the only thing in between me and liberals from killing conservatism once and for all. I thought 2016 was a pivotal election due to Supreme Court picks for retiring judges. I’m afraid 2020 is about keeping traditional values and beliefs or transforming America into something none of us could ever imagine.

    .

2016 was the wake up call ..... it takes at least 8 years to change direction and a second term to make any real, lasting gains so lets hope 2020 will be the year of .....

  • Interesting to see all the info being released about the shooter in Dallas. I thought the media wasn't going to make the shooters famous anymore. I guess a white, male, veteran with high capacity mags is to good a story to pass up. He fits the narrative better than the one before.

  • Am I the only one dreading this voting cycle? The left is going to be all "free shit here, get your free shit here", and the right is going to be all "how far can I shove my head up POTUS' ass".

Where is my common sense middle ground candidate saying "we can't afford that" and "while Trump has done some good stuff, he is not the second coming", and "Biden and Trump keep your hands and ignorant comments to yourself".

Seriously. I want a candidate who answers the questions with the truth "not, my job, legislation comes from Congress", "not my job, judging legalities is for the courts", "not my job, anything not specifically enumerated by the Constitution belongs in the hands of the states", etc. Sigh. The President shouldn't be this important!

I couldn't agree with you more, but unfortunately the professional political class has succeeded in turning the people against each other and until some one or some event brings us back together again our situation is not going to change. I hate to say it, but I suspect its going to be far longer then just this voting cycle
