  • these days no one seems to care what skeletons one might have unless of course you tried to kiss a girl without asking first - - if you did that they will try to f u right up the - - - -

seriously you could have been a total drug addict and that wouldn't matter, but if you acted like a normal male you would be toast

Totally leaving me out - this is a major problem - there are many people out there that are more capable of running this country but who has lived life without some mistakes and don’t get involved in politics because they don’t want every aspect of their life dissected on national TV since high school. The 24 hour news cycle is good and bad - this is bad.

I might not be right but I can sure sound like it

  • You can permanent marker(as opposed to chalk) me up as a Never Trumper. A few kudos over 2+ years isn't a great track record to me. I did mention I don't like the guy, right?8o

I understand why many people like him. I also understand why many of those people defend his many actions and statements that they would normally criticize.

I personally think he is a national embarrassment. I felt he would be during the election and said as much. Upon his winning, I hoped he would rise to the office of President of the United States. Sadly, as I feared, he has pulled the office down to his level. SAD!

From Clinton thought present have all been national embarrassment's to our country and that is because all it takes to get to the presidency is money... no leadership skills required.

  • So my response to talk about socialism has always been to point out that we do have government funded free healthcare.... Called the VA... And asked how that's worked out.

My new tack is to ask if they have ever been involved in a HOA. If they laugh and raise a beer, we can be friends. If they look at me like ive grown a 3rd eye, they are part of the problem.

The longer ive been a part of the HOA, the more the similarities between it and a democratic socialisism become apparent... Let me tell you how well thats going over right now. ;):P:saint:

HOA's are wonderful. I've been the president in four different neighborhoods. If people want to live in unkempt houses they can stay out of my neighborhood. I don't want cars parked up and down the street. I don't want crazy house colors, driving my homes value down. If you want to be unique, special and roll the dice on the value of your house, go live in a unruly neighborhood and leave us more conservative people to bask in our orderly neighborhood with steadily increasing home values. If you don't like HOA's you like chaos, clutter and disorder. If you notice that you are the one always complaining about your HOA, know that you are the problem.

Furthermore, it is nothing like "Democratic socialism". You knew you would be in one when you looked at the house. You paid to be in that neighborhood because you like the comfort and tidyness of an HOA community. You also, when buying the house agreed to the HOA monthly payments and by laws. If "Democratic socialism" is the same as socialism, you won't have a choice. You will unwillingly pay into it. You will not agree with any of it. Socialism creates chaos not the beautifully manicured lawns and we'll kept houses and security found in an HOA.

One last "pin" fuck an HOA, I have never been, nor ever will be paying somebody to tell me what to do around my house.;):*

  • WOLF - while there is a need for HOA’s to maintain a “tidy” neighborhood many turn into lawn Nazi’s riding around looking for infractions ever so small with big fines involved. Again where you give some people a little authority they completely lose all reason. I have had run ins with HOA’s over the years and dislike them so I now live where I am the HOA, 911, game warden plus have my very own fire plug in my yard. I can now become the crotchety old man I have been shootin for with no outside irritants - never gonna sell me on an HOA :00008359:

  • I don't want crazy house colors,

This is an opinion, maybe 6 or 7 out of 10 neighbors like the color. If the 3 or 4 hoa members don't like it, convince the other neighbors,.. or make another "law", too bad for the property owner who pays the taxes. Again, someone sticking their nose into someone business trying to control everything

If you notice that you are the one always complaining about your HOA, know that you are the problem.

If you notice that you are the one always complaining about your neighbor, know that you are the problem.

  • the question comes down to ownership. If you can not do anything you want with it then you don't really own it.

now should you do anything you want with it knowing it could impact your neighbors property values - that should be between you and God

if people actually lived in love toward each other and treated people as they would want to be treated would we even need things like HOA's?

  • Told this story before - years ago I wanted to have a dish installed on my parents roof for satellite TV (before laws passed to allow them) and the next door neighbor was the President of the HOA. Hecalled my dad and told him to take it down. He didn’t want to look at a “flying saucer” while he laid out at his pool. My dad called understandably upset. He said the guy said he would sue to have it removed (he was a lawyer). Dad said he didn’t want the hassle of court - could I do anything else. I obtained a copy of the HOA rules and regulations scouring them overnite. The next day I had 4 used toilets delivered and placed on the property line between Dad’s and the “prick”. Filled em up with potting soil and planted flowers in each. My new unregulated planters:P. That evening my Dad called and said he would make an “exception” for the dish if we removed the planters. Once again treachery triumphs over tyranny. Of course my dad’s analogy was “it takes a better asshole to beat another asshole”. He really loved me :00008172:

  • Way da go Frankie55 ! Well said! It will be a great day when/if economics are taught in our schools again. Sadly they are not. I consider my self a “Smithian” considering Adam Smith’s “invisible hand” to be brilliant!

I am 29 years now in business and very grateful for the support of my family. My great grandparents came here on ships with nothing but the clothes on their backs and a dream and a work ethic. They worked their asses off in mills and built their own houses. Raised families to work hard, be God fearing and generous. They paved the way for me as I have tried for my family. My daughter now has her own business a little over a year now. She is still struggling but her tenacity is great and I/we are convinced this American imagrant family will see her American dream come true.

My dad would get his hackles up big time if someone said “well you got it easy”! As he started his first business at 55. My dad’s father used to cut tires and re-sole his shoes and do for the neighbors if any was left over in a Pittsburgh steel town. He had one shirt and pair of pants and shoes. He put himself through college and got his PHD AND MASTERS degree at the same time while working nights. I don’t say this to be “showy” or brag. Just that thank God if you really want something- are willing to put the time in, then this great experiment called America is still a place where it is possible.

I would never and I do mean NEVER buy a piece of property that I planned on living on that had a HOA.. I might buy for investment only though.

  • When I bought my winter home in Fl I didn’t want any HOA fees and regulations. The city is well known for its strict restrictions and I didn’t think I needed more.
I bought in a nice neighborhood with many empty lots as things are growing here rapidly. Most of the homes are well kept and many are very nice. Mine is always pristine even when I’m not here in summer.
We had a neighbor that started letting his grass grow a foot tall and putting junk torn apart riding mowers in his driveway with portable sheds made of material that had disintegrated and strips hanging from the Fl sun.
City has numerous leans against his property but can’t force him to clean it up. They will collect if the house is ever sold.
I since moved to a gated HOA community and love the restrictions to keep your place up.
We do have a few that don’t want to follow the rules and want to complain but I say move out if you don’t like it. You signed the agreement to move here.
We are not allowed over night street parking and you can’t block the sidewalk over your driveway.
Must have garbage cans hidden from front view.
Pick up your dog droppings when you walk your dog.
Obey the speed limit in the community.
Any changes made go thru the ARC board.
Fl sun has its effects on your house so they do expect you to keep your tile roof clean, house paint good and driveways and sidewalks pressure washed.
These are just common things that neighbors should do, no nazi police.

  • I agree HOA’s do serve a valuable purpose, if you move in a subdivision with rules they must be adhered to. Having been around the block SEVERAL times I have seen cases where the HOA nazi has a ruler out measuring the height of the grass, trying to overstep rules on fenced in back yards, etc. If the rules are not absolutely clear and it does not devalue the community - judgement calls should go to the homeowner!!
