  • I ran into one of my high school teachers the other day and he asked me how i liked my career choice of being an Aeronautical Engineer? I asked him why he thought I chose that field for my career choice. He said that just assumed that after speaking to the other teachers and they all agreed that I was just taking up space there.

    Nobody gets outta here ALIVE

  • Sure, but you seem to be fixated on the wrong thing. China is developing technology, but they are also increasing their carbon emissions. You might take a closer look at their manufacturing processes and compare them to those in the US. There are very few environmental restrictions there.

Again, the US is making the largest reductions in carbon emissions in the world. There is no requirement to further handicap the economy without real change being undertaken in China and India.

  • I Don't care!

I am looking at all of the garbage congress is doing in their attempt to get dirt on President Trump and I have come to the conclusion that

    I Don't Care!

You didn't read the full reports on the US and China on that site, did you?

  • JamesB here are the lists of the largest solar and wind farms in the world. The China wind farm beats all the U.S. ones combined that made the "top ten" list and is projected to triple in capacity by next year.

Private industry is now leading the way in the U.S. because some ass backwards moron, through policies, said, "go ahead and increase pollution again boys". Luckily for us, our biggest energy providers and industry leaders believe in the cost savings and environmental benefits of renewable energy, even if some climate change deniers try their best to supplement coal and oil and fight renewable energy in efforts to appease their base. I suspect they learned that thinking from their grandpa who died riding a horse because he thought, "I can feed my horse anywhere and anytime. Those automobiles will never be big because you have to go to a fill'n' station to fill it up.

  • I'm not for or against wind farms or solar power. I have a few solar powered outdoor lights at my home, and most of the others are LED. We have wind generators in my county, over 100 of them so far and more planned. The things I don't like about them are as follows. Many (but not all) of the issues could be fixed by placing the farms away from the homeowner's lands in remote areas, however they need to place them where the wind moves the most for the area.

Whenever I'm outside and the wind is blowing, you can hear an audible chopping sound. It is loud enough that it's rather annoying to most outdoor activity. I can live with it, and I do.... but it's still there. The closest wind generator to me is about 1/2 mile away, so imagine having a home that's really close nearby it. Also, depending on how close you live to it, and the angle of the sun, it casts a chopping shadow that can be seen for more than an hour a day. This is most noticeable if the shadow is casting over the windows of your house.... it's like a slow strobe effect. Some people with seizure issues have had them caused by the flickering. Those are the two things I know of that affect homeowners in the area of the wind farms. The other things I don't like are that ours were subsidized by the Govt by 20% of the cost, and the payback for the power claimed by them takes 18 years. The lifespan of the generator is 20 years, and when they end up failing, what then? If they are replaced, fine. If not, they just become an eyesore that's there until nature brings it down. We have had them for about 5 years now, and several have failed already. The propeller arms also are prone to breaking, I've seen at least 15 fail in the time they have been in operation near me. It happens enough that it has it's own nickname among the locals.... a "broken wing".

As for the Govt subsidized part, that may not be into effect any longer. Those numbers and statements were from the meetings we had in the 2 years before they started putting them up. I don't know the cost of them today, nor how long of a life expectancy they have with the current ones being built.
