) Who decides what is fact, or interpretation of a fact, is in fact, fact??? Even though it is obvious to me Googles algorithms are liberally biased but they are a private company. I would never want some bureaucrat in a cubicle in the White House deciding what or how something is published - no matter what party is in power. If you are not capable of reading both sides of all the crap on the internet and make up your mind for yourself - that would be that individuals problem. I’ll give you an example - let’s imagine a Congressman getting up on CNN and saying you know that 14th Amendment is really outdated - let’s repeal that part about freeing the slaves and let’s allow US citizens to buy themselves a couple Mexicans or Hondurans for indentured servitude and solve the illegal immigration problem. Of course you would say that is appalling - but legally how is that any difference between that and what this California douche bag is espousing?? THE CONSTITUTION WORKS - leave it alone.

Seems that similar things happened here years ago. Smoking ads banned, cursing, nipple showing, butt cheek...
Here in America, it has become clear to corporations that there are standards enforced by the public regarding gender, sexual orientation...that the government does not impose on them. As your original articles person stated, it isn't the government's job.

As a Republican you believe in the free market. A politician says he thinks some companies should censor thier sites, some sites are censoring on thier own. When they censor you cry foul and ridicule them, that is your right. Does that crying not go against your core republican, "free market" beliefs?

GRASSHOPPER .... You are trying to blur the line between censorship and free speech. Let’s ise our beloved forum for an example. We have a NSFW section that rabtech so graciously allowed us to have. He allows dirty jokes and pics but does not allow hard core porn to be posted and will take it down. If I used my 1st Amendment right I can post a donkey in the middle of an orgy. Rab as the owner of this site has the right to censor whatever he likes and can take it down. If I don’t like it I can go elsewhere. Did Rab violate my rights - NO. same goes for any internet site. This Congressman would like the right to basically tell Rab what HE thinks is fake, offensive, etc. Don’t know bout you but I don’t wanna live in a world like that.

No blurred lines Bill. You stated it correctly and then tried to spin it for different language. Sites as you stated have every right to delete whatever they find offensive, disruptive and not keeping with the truth. Heck, they, InfoWars as an example, have the right to post nothing but lies, half truths and conspiracy theories.

Personally I don't care what is posted on social media or any other place on the internet. Real news, fake news - let them post whatever they want. If I read it and think it might be worth my time I will take responsibility for fact checking it myself before acting on it or re posting it.
If I were to count on others to protect me from fake news then I virtually guarantee that I will be used - - - rather just do it myself
Anyway thats just my opinion
