Conservative Politics & Daily Events Discussion

  • Fox News just announced that there are 40 Republicans retiring or leaving Washington. My question is? Are these the relatively new guys that are tired of fighting the swamp? If so people, we are in real trouble. Things are just going to stay the same. @Bill Martin comment. I do know that we have some good people leaving just because of this, they have admitted to the swamp being the problem

Sadly Gerald I think the swamp is there to stay. Trump has been successful in undoing most of the damage Obama has done but if the Dems gain the majority in the mid terms they will fight Trumps agenda tooth and nail. Then in 2020 if a Dem wins the presidency they will try and undo everything Trump has done moving us back to the far left again. As best I can see it the Rep/Dem swamps win and we the American people lose.

I might not be right but I can sure sound like it

As in the Dem/Rep swamps working together till the end. That is the whole point that I am bringing up. The American public are the only ones who can stop this by putting their own term limits on these assholes, be it Dem or Rep and putting them back on the street after one or two terms in office and paying attention to what is being done while they are in office. "WAKE UP AMERICA"

    .

Keep that thought at the forefront, get involved, express your concerns, and make sure you urge other like minded individuals to vote in November....

That's the power you have .... if enough people don't exercise it then we deserve what we get ......

    ....... politician-squared

:REDSS: The ghost of SLingshot past ......

  • The American people, I believe, are in favor of term limits but these politicians are NOT going to enact something that will remove themselves from office along with the power it holds. Love to see it happen but don’t think it ever will !!

The American public can make the term limits by doing this on their own at the ballot box and stop listening to the BS that is put out there before the elections. The American voting public are the ones keeping them in office. Term Limits do not need to voted on anywhere but at the ballot box. I Have Said My Piece and Now I Will Move On.

  • One thing I don’t get is why is it ok to keep allowing our country to be invaded everyday by the voting public. I would think people would see this as a bad thing but when I talk to my liberal friends they think it’s just fine isn’t a problem. Illegal immigration cost this country billions. Also not to mention he criminal element that comes in also. I would think this issue alone would win spots for Republicans everywhere but it seems I’m wrong.

The voting public do not realize that all of this money is coming out of their pocket, I do not know how but they think it is coming out of someones else's pocket. Just use the wall for a good example the cost savings in Calif. alone would pay for the wall.

  • The only thing that scares me is that I'll probably still be alive to see this downfall. Experts say that you can't successfully time the stock market for your investments. I say take it out now and worry about walking away from a possible 10% upside, then to leave it there and see it go back to the 2009 levels

    Nobody gets outta here ALIVE

  • @FunCycle you are 100% correct - I been pushing for everybody to get together Rep or Dem and throw the incumbent out and let it be known that if the newly elected don’t work together to move the country forward we will throw them out and give somebody else a chance. Sounds great and easy but partisan politics and the big money behind them will never allow this to happen!’

I have heard Many spineless B's are leaving because they don't want to or can't work with President Trump. Some don't like everything he is doing, how he is acting... and rather than go against their party/Trump and fight for what they believe, they are bailing. Some are probably wide eyes optimistic new people that realized how "tow the party line" things are and the fact that they have no real voice.

You may be right but if you follow what I am talking about, it is the SWAMP! Dems and the Rep's working together to screw the American public. Toe the Line/ The Swamp or get out. Trump is just shaking everything up and they cannot control everything like they are use to.

I don’t get into politics but I might have some insight here. I had dinner a while back with a member of Congress who is a personal friend. He decided not to run for re-election and has since gone back to public life.

The disgust with Members lies not with what the President does or does not do. Most don’t have dealings with him directly. The closest they get is a photo shoot or two.

Instead of doing work for the people, half the working day is spent on Party fundraising and intense pressure to vote party lines or face “consequences” abounds.

Good people who run and succeed in order to do good are met with a “Steam Roller” driven by Party leadership....... Democrat or Republican. “Fall in line or lose re-election support!” “Fall in line or face no chance of authored Bill review!” “We’ve done it this way for decades and it is not going to change!”

“Back Stabbing” in Congress is worse than High School. Those who don’t get in line face a Congressional Exorcism led by strong arm career politicians. The President has little, if anything, to do with it.

Trump may be an embarrassment at times but I look at results. I could give a flying fu#k if he had screwed a porn star 10 years ago or had shady dealings building a Billion dollar business, or talks about his sexual exploits or wet dreams..... I just wish Congress would quit worrying about losing the power they have and worry more about where they are taking the Country!

  • Painter nailed it. This same BS happens at the state level also.

    Send lawyers, guns and money!

  • And that my friends is exactly what I am talking about and the voting public keeps on putting these same ass wipes in office. Who needs term limits, put them back on the street if they are not doing the job and make our own term limits at the ballot box.

  • Yep - I figure the Stormy Daniels thing is between Trump and his bride. IMHO I would rather have a billionaire the screws porn stars and Playboy bunnies prior to being President than a hillbilly from Arkansas that ruins a good cigar on Monica Lewinsky types in the Oval Office :00008172:

I don't know where you guys are coming up with swamp... DC went cesspool quite some time ago. Bought and sold like pigs going to market.

  • @Painter I understand your friends position and stated that was part of the reason for so many departures. When I said, "I heard some were leaving because of Trump", it was from live T.V. interviews, not printed press. From the horses mouth, so to speak. At least 3 in the last 8 months were Trump related, and not because he fired them.
