GREAT NEWS !!!
In an unprecedented display of bipartisanship the Pennsylvania congress has voted themselves an 8% raise…
It’s great to see that they can work together and get the job done…
Its curious that this happened right after the election…
Fun fact about the pay raise. In 1995 they passed a law to avoid having to vote on their own pay raises. The pay raises for commonwealth representatives, senators, governor, lieutenant governor, cabinet members, attorney general, treasurer, auditor general, state and county judges, are based on the US Department of Labor's Consumer Price Index for the PA, New Jersey, Maryland, and Delaware area. This year it was pegged at 8.8 percent. It has been this way for 27 years. Back in 2020 they did vote to freeze the pay raise, but it was only a .8 percent raise. They got a 5.6 percent raise in 2021. Nothing shady going on, just following the law.
