Thanks to all you fine folks for sharing. Woke up this afternoon without a thought in my mind. It's a work day, so zombie mode engaged... and, oh look... recall for the recall.
Read the thread, saw the links, checked out the pictures... picked out a dirty spot on the floor and got down in it... grommets installed.
Re-engage zombie mode... work, here I come.

This can also be done by feel. Just reach down from the top, there's one to either side...

Contamination of the rear speed sensor will disable the ABS and Traction/Stability Control, increasing the risk of a crash.
Not sure if we are identifying the correct gromets. The speed sensor is in the axle bearing.

lets hope not. The fact that two have posted not having the two plugs gives me hope that this is all that it might be.

As I sit here and swear like a good sailor at Motoprimo in Lakeville MN, I have been thinking that for these holes to ruin any sensors it would mean that the swingarm are completely hollow inside.
Is this a know fact? -
Did you have your recall done at Springfield, Ohio too? Oh wait, I'm starting to think that is one of the requirements to be a mechanic for the Slingshots. In all seriousness, yes, that's cause for concern if the grommets aren't there. If they reused the old grommets it should be fine. If it is left open without grommets, Polaris is admitting that it could contaminate sensitive parts on the recall document.
Next they'll tell us that it's fine to not use an air cleaner for the engine, and just go ahead and leave the OIL CAP off too.... that dirt won't hurt anything. (My apologies for the frustrated sarcasm. Isn't anyone accountable anymore?)Knowing Polaris, I'd think they'd leave the oil plug off, as well!
I assume that with the grommets missing, dirt/rocks are probably able to get up in there and wear the axle/bearing, eventually causing problems.

@Neosolidus based off casting methods and cost it is safe to assume there are cavities that allow access to the bearing area.
