Yeah, I love the 17's on mine, but going to take his advice and go with Toyo next time.
Wow... Old thread coming back. Funny thing is that the time has come for me to replace the rear again. 2 years out of the nitto.
I'm looking at changing the rim size so that I can get a taller sidewall for better off the line grip. Slingrazor set up is looking better and better.
Yea, I did a little testing on the back tire also (KENDA) and two track days. Huntsville to Bristol and a few more miles. I think I will finish it off this weekend.
Tread depth...9.4”.....not enough meat to start with and at $250 each....???

This tire has a LOT better traction than the Kenda and driven sanely will give you close to 10,000 miles. You can have a GREAT tire or you can have a CHEAP tire. You make the call
9.4 inches of tread seems like too much tread!

It helped me to go with the Nitto. Bought it yesterday at Discount Tire after seeing it priced less on line and they matched it along with the Military Discount. Will be installed tomorrow morning. 🇺🇸

My first Kendra lasted 7000 second one 5000 drove it the same.
Polaris I’m assuming put on a tire that has a softer compound to help it grip the road. The trade off is not so good on mileage.
So to get better mileage you could be sacrificing some performance.

I believe the maximum recommended tire width on a 9 inch rim would be a 275, but I have read on here of someone who ran a 305 without any issues
Not trying to live dangerous lol 285 or close would even be good ....just would like to know who's running wide tires on the SL wheels and what are you running besides the stock, thanks
I used a 285/30/20 on the stock SL wheel with zero issues. Tire fit and looked great and no codes were set. Most importantly the speedometer was almost dead nuts on

I guess you can learn something new any day. I never checked the speedometer reading when spinning the rear tire. Might have to do just that to satisfy my stuborness

The safest thing to do regarding running larger tires on the stock wheels is to select a tire model/size and check the tire manufacturer's website to see what size rim is recommended for that tire model/size. Use the Discount Tire Tire Size Calculator (https://www.discounttire.com/learn/tire-size-calculator) to determine the impact on the speedometer reading when changing the size of the driven tire.

You may find you prefer a 275/35 tire over a 285/30 tire for a better ride with a slightly taller sidewall. I've run a variety of rear tires on my 2015 S including a Nitto 555 G2 315/35ZR17 on a Mustang 17x10.5 (28mm Offset) rear wheel and an Achilles Sport ATR 2 305/30ZR18 on a CP32 18x10.5, 35mm Offset wheel and while the Achilles tire was very affordable (just over $100 on Amazon), mounting the tire twas a PITA due to the 30 profile and the ride was a little worse than the 35 profile Nitto tire which gave a better ride and was easy to mount.
