I watched the video on slingmods for the mud flap they sell. My observation was the mud flaps were curving toward the rear from the wind as he drove down the road. So if you have a set of those mud flaps do you like them? I was thinking they should be heavier rubber or plastic like the ones on cars and trucks.

Though it will bend up some while driving it's still doing it's job as the top of the tire is throwing debris forward and the angle is sufficient to block much of that. It does make a difference. The newer flap by Rock Guard is larger and stiffer than the original one.

How thick are they? How stiff....do you think 1/8" plastic like car flaps would be better?

@Jeff@DDMWorks or @Dave@DDMWorks are you guys installing these at MV?

Has anyone scraped there mud flaps on the road.... I'm going to make my own and I'm trying to decide if I should go with 1/8" plastic or 3/16" rubber. I also want to make them the entire width of the fender...and connect my bracket in three places not two...and use specially designed plastic self tapping screws...

I found this rubber mat that I think would be good for mud flaps and floor mats...opinions?

Mud flaps are for monster trucks!
I do like the rally armor one that protects the angle drive from debris.
Show us some pictures of what you come up with. Cut an extra angle drive one and send it to me. I'll review it for you.

I really like the Rally Armour ones. They may not look like they would do much, but they keep a lot of the spray from hitting the sides of the tub. I think that if they were any longer they would scrape on rougher parts of the roadway. Plus, I live on a gravel road where they really help keeping the gravel from hitting.
-
So now that you've had your store bought mud flaps...do you wish they were wider and longer? Just wondering how to make mine..
-
So I guess I'm the only geek that's going to install mud flaps???
Have just ran through the aftermath of a heavy rain storm...lots of water comes from those front wheels..splashes up onto the fenders and down the sides...
-
Haven't seen a mudflap I like at this point, but to each his own. That is what makes this community so great. When you get it done, be sure to post pictures.
-
You don't really notice the Rally Armour ones. You have to be really looking for them. As far as longer, they already scrape on speed bumps. Any longer and they would wear down to the length that they already are, lol. I admit that I haven't driven through deep puddles so I can't comment on that situation.

I'm agreeing with Solow. I have the same ones. Purchased from SlingMods. They seem to work well. The rain and wet highways to and from Maggie Valley wasn't as bad.
-
How far do they hang down...6" 8" ?
-
here is the rubber I'm using....I'm calling it 1/8" thick
I plan on making them as wide as the fender.....thinking about 8" long ( hanging down)Making my swing arm rock guard out of this too..it has that manly industrial look going on.
