Test ride on Slingshot today. Base model, no radio, windshield, or b/u camera (yea you need the camera), can't see behind you.
Fun w/5 speed stick, very strong & fast. Broke rear wheel loose taking off at a turn, but not more than a chirp. Very, very, noisy rear tire & tranny.
Couple of questions for youse that own them please.
Does tire noise change/lessen with tire tread design? Anybody changed them? Is there a sound deadening kit available for driver/passenger area?
Thanks, sure had fun!
1st test ride!

After 10,000 fun miles I can tell you don't worry about the noises, seems like each sling has its own unique set of noises, the noises your hearing are the angle drive and the final drive belt, I removed my front fenders and my tires scream at me but nothing a loud stereo won't fix. Once your hooked kiss your bank account good bye!!!

Don't let the noise worry you. It will get quieter. You may have been hearing the final.drive. The tires dont make alot of noise. However the final drive will whine for a while and the belt has a bit of noise. And if you can try to drive one with a windshield. You won't believe the difference. They shouldn't even let people drive them without a windshield. It just leaves a bad taste in people's mouth usually.

But that belongs on the NSFW threads...

You will certainly get used to the noise and quickly lern to love it.
However you'll spend more time watching the faces of people you pass than thinking about any noise that it's making. -
Get yourself a pair of eargasm ear plugs and turn up the stereo. No problem.
-
Sometimes the noise from the backend is just a dirty belt that needs a little wash.

so far tells me it it's a KEEPER.Heck, I BOUGHT mine sight unseen. Put down the deposit when they were first announced, and took home the first one sold in my county. The dealer checked it out before he would release it to me, and almost wouldn't let me take it. He thought there was something wrong with it when he heard the noises from the rear. Even tried air pressure changes before I said it's paid for, under warranty and a Friday afternoon. GET OUTTTA MY WAY. And never regretted the decision
