I've done a search on the forum, and couldn't find this topic so here goes. I'd like to powder coat my control arms, but of course the bushings and ball joints will have to be removed. Does anyone know if either the ball joints or the bushings can be reused after removing them? Or is it one of those self destructing things? I know that I could just take them off and paint them, but I'd rather have the durability of powder.

I am pretty sure That they can be reused if removed carefully

There is a thread about this some where. The how and what tools to use to remove. I do not remember whether it was here or on TDS.

Oh! I know! It's the far left side only!

I replaced my uppers. They are kinda tricky to get out. And tricky to get new ones back in you could reuse them. Polaris sells a tool to take out the ball joints. From what I understand talking to a couple different dealers on here the tool is a waste of money. I used a ball joint kit from harbor freight to remove them and reinstall. Now if the lowers go bad I believe Polaris says you have to change the whole lower arm. They say you can't replace the lowers. And I'm no powder coat expert but the arms are aluminum and you have to be careful heating aluminum with powder coating temps. I did post pics in the ball joint thread.

Yeah, when I did the search for ball joints, I did come across that thread. I just didn't read far enough into it, mainly because it seemed focused on the shoddy factory ones and how many are being replaced. I think that being as I have three months down time that I may take a crack at it. If I do screw them up, I'll have time to get new ones before the riding season starts. Thanks for all the info.
