• Got out of the Army in 1975 after my 3 years, was a UH1H Huey crew chief. Started work as a welder, boy I was gonna get rich and set the world on fire. The only fire was burning my ears, my short and curlys and my pants. Welders were a dime a dozen in northern Alabama then so I moved down to the oil patch in Louisiana. In 82 the oil industry died down here so I bought me a welding rig and turned into a welding whore that would take any job. Got into welding at night at small shipyards on the river for extra beer money and really liked it. So I have been in the marine industry for over 30 years. I currently work for a major chemical company. I maintain the barges that the company owns which includes annual Coast Guard inspections. I have over 100 barges currently and that keeps me busy. Now I don't physically work on them I just choose the shipyards they are near, write a scope of work and then coddle the USCG inspectors, most that don't know port from starboard.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do.

  • Well, I assist in performing forensics on computer systems from failed financial institutions and I also maintain the master inventories of electronic and paper records of them - to a tune of 3.3 millions boxes of paper records and I can't even pronounce the total size of electronic data.

Yes, I work for FDIC, but don't worry, your money is safe with me!

Uh but, what's your account and pin number? I'll double check to make sure you're safe. lol

Took me a while to memorize some of those mariner terms.
Easiest way I found was to just group all the short words one side
and the long ones on the other...

    RED - GREEN
    LEFT - RIGHT
    PORT - STARBOARD

  • Tell me they finally took my picture down!?!?!?! :00008172: Seriously though, most everybody here already knows my background. Twenty-four years with the Navy, then jumped into the occupational safety field as a Safety Specialist for OSHA, covering the area Military Hospitals. Still get the funny looks when I tell people what I do!!! With a little therapy, I should be just fine in a couple of years! :00008356:

Seat time in the Slingshot will do more good than therapy.

  • Hey, no judgement here, but...uh...can you do me a favor? Can you see if I'm on anyone's list for anything? The FBI won't give me a straight answer.

Yes and no...there are some lists that have an explanation, some that don't...They claim that you have to snail mail the agency and you will be able to get a "clear" answer...but that will eventually move at that speed of Government and the agency doesn't have to provide anything other than a generic answer.

  • Background in education and PR and than I figured I needed to make enough money to put some food on the table for the family. Put together a small residential painting company( http://www.EJFPainting.com ) web site is in the process of an update ...40 years 2017...food on the table, gas in the Slingshot, and most important time to ride.... My son works for me full time along with a crew,
which gives me the opportunity to sneak off to a rally from time to time.

  • Wow I'm going to make this odd. I work for the Federal Bureau of Prisons. For almost 10 years I go to jail everyday.
Worked aviation for several years after I got out of the Navy. 1989 to 1996 and also 2001 to 2002.

Many of my relatives on my Father's side in West Virginia ended up working for and retiring from the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

I had a good friend while in the Army who had been a Huey Door Gunner and crew chief (as I recall). He had retrained as a German Voice Intercept Operator and eventually retired from the Army and became a Historian and Park Ranger for the National Park Service. I don't think he was ever as happy in the Army as he had been when he was working with Hueys.

  • I've been a hypnotist since 1980. Spent many years working with police departments helping subjects to recall information about crimes. My book Raising Your Children With Hypnosis has been in print for 10 years. Now, just a Slingshot owner.
