Not to derail the thread, and I agree with you, but at least neither one of them is getting a destroyer or battleship named after them. Gifford is getting an LCS, and Milk....he's getting a supply ship.
Provided that SECNAV doesn't do something screwy, per ship naming convention, it would be appropriate to have a destroyer named after Glenn.

And back on topic - a list of achievements to span 3 lifetimes, a history of service to his country, and huge brass balls, from WWII to a space mission at 77. Impressive to say the least. Godspeed, sir. Rest easy.
