Maggie Valley not affected at all.No fires wet & raining.All this took place the other side of the mountains in Gatlinburg Pigeon Forge Area.A lot of the buildings which burned were in and around Gatlinburg.Down down Gatlinburg mainly ok.The fire chief issued a statement the worst is over.

I'm originally from Kingsport, TN which is only about 2-hours from Gatlinburg. A lot of fond memories of Pigeon Forge, Sevierville, and downtown Gatlinburg. From most of the reports I have seen, downtown Gatlinburg sustained little or no damage at all. My wife and I were just in Gatlinburg a few years ago around the same time of year. Rolling into town on a CanAm Roadster, on Black Friday, at 29-Degrees...my wife was actually pleasantly pleased and surprised to see all the Christmas decorations in the median from Pigeon Forge leading all the way into Downtown Gatlinburg. Of course, we were the talk of the town with the Spyder. We enjoyed an entire weekend of sight-seeing and window shopping. We had so much fun, we decided to extend our stay a few more days. Yes, a lot of great memories of all the wonderful people we met during our stay. Here's to hoping for a full and successful recovery for the folks affected.

I cannot believe this was not an accident!! 2 juveniles arrested for aggravated arson. The circumstances have not been released but it is alledged that the fire was set intentionally. I know we all did stupid crap as kids but DAMN!! I would truly hate to be on the prosecution or defense side of this case. The lives lost, damage to property, livelihoods destroyed along with some of the prettiest country in the USA. Truly a lose- lose situation - very sad!

Dude, they've been saying arson for a while. All the fires in NC and GA, too. Little shitheads. I used to burn a lot of shit as a kid, still love fire, but that's just a miserable human being right there.

@KayTwo that story slipped past me until today. They don't report much on it down here in coonass land. A lot of us love a good fire - I still do! But intentionally start a fire like that?? I feel for all the fire victims but can't help feel bad for these disturbed kids parents and the 2 young lives forever ruined. Again very sad!
