Just out for lunch... beautiful day here in Colorado... for a change. This little town called Louviers was built by the DuPont family back before WWI because they had a dynamite plant there and the town was built for the employees. The building pictured has a two lane bowling alley that requires someone at the other end to set up the pins and roll the ball back.
It was nice here in CO for a change, loving it! Got up to Castle Rock to the outlets yesterday for a car show/meet up with some fellow slingers. Can't see in this pic but another 8 slings I think on lower level that were with the north group. We then hit another show up in loveland I think it was, then cruised downtown at night with the lights which is always fun. Shot some 360 video, but still need to edit and being 360 takes me way longer than normal video... So many perspectives to choose from, lol!
This is my 2 year old granddaughter...
I remember a picture that was very simular....

Yep, they grow up fast. Bella is now 7 but shares her Slingshot with her 2 year old cousin Callie. Callie has a brother or sister “in the oven”...
Went to Elkader IA yesterday. Check out the origin of the town's name. Would give BD a headache.
65 miles just to go to a donut shop. But they were worth it. Bought an iced tea and we had a couple of long johns in the park kitty cornered across from the bakery. Took winding back roads home. Great day. GOOD donuts.
At 1pm, the locals had already been there.
Next to the little park.
Perfect for donuts for two.
Nice pictures. I miss Iowa. Maybe not so much when it is 20+ below but I did enjoy the winters anyway. The small towns are nice and I remember the bakery in my home town. The lady that owned it would always give me something she had just baked when I delivered her groceries.
I have several friends in the Dutch town of Pella, IA. Awesome place. It’s claim to fame is Pella Windows.
There were a lot of little towns in Iowa with less then a 100 people and had one room school houses. I don't know if they are still there probably everyone from the cities move to them.

And the annual Tulip Festival.

They dried up or the schools consolidated. There is a book about Lost Iowa Towns. Hundreds of little burgs just wilted away. My town is around 3500. Just right. A bunch of "kids" that I went to school with for 13 years still live around here, or MOVED BACK. I left in 1965. Finally got back "home" in 2005. I will be buried a block west of my current home.
I graduated from Spencer High in 65 and left for the Navy in 67. I would move back in a heart beat but my son and his family live here.
