Today wasn't the best day for ridding but it is the day we were given. Today we joined together for a short group ride to celebrate the life of a local 4yr old who lost his battle with cancer Thursday night. There were folks from all over the U.S. and reportedly at least one from Canada. Keep in mind that this little town is home to only about 5k people and the idea of this ride only came to fruition about 2 weeks ago. I also want to comment that the FB page #burnoutsforwyatt was only started about 8 days ago and is now well over 100k strong! Check out the video and fell free to check out the FB page.
Where Did You Take Your Slingshot Today?

Good day today - good to get out and get the head in another direction.
The highlight of my day was an 85 year old man. He was standing next to the SS getting his picture taken when my wife and I were coming back from lunch. Most of us know the joy of letting a child get behind the wheel for a picture. Well today an 85 year old child did just that. I said "go ahead and sit in it and I'll take your picture" He jumped ( well, eased in) got a few shots - he put the helmet on - huge grin, took a few more. ( unfortunately with HIS camera not mine.)
His "kids" ( our age ) thanked us and we went on our way. The first stop light my wife leans over to me and says that his daughter mentioned to her that his wife of 65 years just died and they were getting him out for the day. She said we made his day. Not so. He made ours! ( No I don't have my own pictures but ya, it happened:)
Warm day in the canyon 59 degrees and then 78 in town. Great day!

Drove my Slingshot for the first time on the interstate. I never saw any be Slingshots around my be area on the interstate, so I guess I'm one of the first here in South Louisiana. Lol....

I wore a full face helmet when I rode motorcycles in Louisiana because of all of the mutant critters flying around! Welcome to the party!
What part of Louisiana are you from? That’s a beautiful state!

Victory! The before & after shot of the garage tells the tale. When I brought Ruby home, the Captain pushed stuff aside so I could park her in the garage. 18 months later, Kitty came home and the Captain's new toy took pride of place and Ruby was exiled to the tractor shed. 😬🤢
Reorganization took a couple weeks, cold weather and rain slowed me down a bit, but a 50 degree day and a swift dab of incentive in the right location and I got 'er done!
Where did I take Ruby today? About 350 yards from the shed to the garage! One of the most satisfying rides I've had this winter! 🥰🤗

Sunday, had a great day. My wife is now a certified Slinger. She has been recovering from having foot surgery and has been biting at the bit to drive the SS. Sunday morning she got her chance - she was a little rusty in driving a standard, but after a couple miles around the block and getting used to the clutch and the width of the SS, she was doing great. Then, she hops on the freeway. Her jaws were sore by the time we got home from the big grin that she had. Guess I might have to start looking for a 2nd SS lol
