Where Did You Take Your Slingshot Today?

  • 10 feet out of the garage to power wash 1600 miles of road dust and bugs off. Pulled the heated seats-80 today. Got out the wax and ArmorAll and a can elbow grease.

You know my Sling still has not had a wash with water except if you count that little pressure wash by Ruptured Duck to get rid of the red Georgia clay. But my Play Room has heat and air, surround sound for the TV and DVD's so while it is cold or raining outside I clean.

As I have mentioned before- being brought up in New Hampshire I spent many a day cleaning and recleaning while Mother Nature teased- I feel ya!

We’ll get there when we get there and not a minute before. 😎

Thanks for the segue... I think sometimes I can get a bit showy but in the end I just want to show everybody how epic the southwest is. We had amazing weather all the way. The only overcast day was in Zion. There was actually a section on the way in Zion where the road washed out / collapsed in a turn out because of the rains. Park was 65 degrees that day but still snow in the high parts. ALL the streams were running. Saw dear and sheep everywhere. I have yet to download my go pro from the park drive but will do so soon.

Prescott was fun and stayed on Whisky row. Off to Flagstaff and all the mountains had snow and really pretty. Monument Vally was just beyond words. Took the back country tour and saw the valley at sunset - incredible. On to Zion then two days in Vega$. Then saw some friends in Laughlin for lunch and did the desert home through 29 palms. Sometimes you feel hot or uncomfortable in the sling and want to stop.....Then you see Marines jumping out in full pack at low altitudes training and you get humbled - then thankful.

All in all it went by fast time wise - 1600+ miles - no issues for the sling this time. My new Federal tires all around were fun! Will buy them again and again! Now have my eyes on the DDM shocks. Tires were like velcro in the corners.

Enjoy the pictures - perhaps more to come.

Enough miles on it, how does that angle drive sound now that you've got miles on that change out of fluid?

Like it's not there! The redline is really a great product - thank you for passing it along!

The only sound was the belt from time to time. A lot of road dust in the rear area. In Utah was at a truck stop getting fuel and there was a pressure wash station. Said to Mrs SoCal that I wanted to hit the stern end and quiet it down. Rolled eyes was my reply and she said "only you can hear that and you can't hear" Turned down the hearing aids and she was right! :)

  • Excellent report! I sure do miss the great southwest. Only reason I don’t move back is because Miss N loves the green of East Tennessee.

  • Took Sassy out to the beach Sunday, needed a get away after frickin dealer had it for 7+ weeks. This is at Boca Grande, FL beachside. Nice day 150 miles.

The trouble with bucket seats is not everyone has the same size 'bucket'.

  • Seven weeks?! Did they build you a new one from the ground up?

You would think, first week was the seat belt retractor recall, no problem. Still under warranty, I reported the issue where on hard right turns the speedo drops to 0 and engine speeds up. They opened case with Polaris, and never followed up. They stopped returning my phone calls, so I had to show up to get answers. kept getting run around. When I told them to button it up, I was picking it up, they magically had response from Polaris, and got it done in next day and a half. They claimed all kinds of issues, digital wrench issues, didn't know how to record a time sequence, then couldn't get it sent to Polaris for review, blah blah. VERY disappointed, really wanted to do business with home town dealer, but WOW did they screw the pooch big time. Now I will drive an hour to a different dealer in future.

  • Woke up to heavy fog, but the day cleared up so I decided to ride the Pig Trail (AR 23) down to Ozark. Trees are just beginning to leaf out here, stopped along an outlook folks call the Grand Canyon of Arkansas. Came back up scenic Hwy 71 but bailed out because the police were escorting the back end of a bike race, keeping traffic to about 7 mph going uphill. Rest of the trip on Hwy 49. The trip is pretty much all down hill to Ozark and then all uphill back.

I did about 125 miles, 30.6 mpg for the trip.

The smarter you get, the funnier I am.
