It's Alive!

It's alive! For those who aren't into reading and want to just see the video, here you go -

Started the day with the transmission mount now that I had the right pieces for it. Super simple and now have the room needed for the exhaust.

Next up was the lifeblood aka fluids and making sure those were topped off. Put 5 quarts of oil in to run it, but added another half based on the dipstick after it ran for a bit. Figure this is because of it being 100% drained with the oil pan off etc... Same on coolant, ran till thermostat opened and then topped it back off. Had a few bubbles to work through, but felt good when we got all those out and ensured it was running through everything including the turbo.

The exhaust I'm using is the ZZP rear exit dual, however I don't like how the rear exhaust coming out from just under the deck looks. Also I didn't want to relocate my plate, I like my new plate holder and how it sits now! The other issue you can see in the video is if you put the drag tip on here where the exhaust would come up for the dual - it'll be pointing up. This maybe a 4cyl, but it's not a honda and I'm not going for that tuner/import look lol. All that said, we decided to cut the pipe further back and weld the flange so the drag tip would kinda come out straight. I like the end result and was amazed how with the tip it's easily a tone or two deeper. Will be even better once it's back on the ground and that exhaust has a chance to reverberate too.

Buddy re-welding that flange on for the drag tip to connect to and spoiler alert his beard didn't catch fire -

Because of how I wasn't using the rest of the rear pieces that included the hangar for the exhaust, we had to come up with another way to keep it from rattling around. My buddy built a cradle he welded on and then bolted that mount to the crossmember. This is perfect as it will keep things secure and because there is flexi pipe on the downpipe side if things did get crazy I shouldn't break anything having the solid connection point in the rear. My thoughts, we'll see I guess!

Also checked off the whiteboard today was the LED headlight upgrade. Soldered one side before I realized it would of been easier to make blade connectors on it work. ooops, oh well will fix when/if they are replaced down the road. Also got the DDM master cylinder support mounted and judging from before and after this reduced a ton of movement. Ignore those lose wires, relocating my aftermarket horn as I didn't have room for where it was before with the turbo pipes.

Up next is to finish the gauge install. Got the MAP sensor mounted and split into the boost line. Really just need to route the wires and mount it. Plan is to the left of the radio there and because that has an angle my gauge points towards the passenger more so than me. My buddy is a genius when it comes to fabing stuff up and figured out a craftsman shop vac plastic hose has an ID of 2 1/4" inches - cut a piece of then 45 degreed so one side of loop higher than other etc... Now when the gauge goes in the pod holder it'll face me. The next big item is the sound system - went through that with him today and pulled the stock radio to see how my jumper is going to work between ride command and the stock amp. Lots of room in there - should be pretty straight forward. Also going to work on the alarm since my plan is to splice into the wires I need behind the ignition button there. Lots to do but lots of time as it's cold and I'm not a fan of riding when it's not at least 50 out!
