May I take the time to thank you for your article on rear axle removal and greasing the bearings. My inner axle nut came loose, started making a racket back there. Got a new torque wrench, tightened everything up as you recommended. tonight will be removal, inspection and grease job. Do you think anyone out there would be interested in gauge and sensor installations? I have installed a EGT 0-1500*f, CYL head temp, vacuum Hg. 30-0 and air intake (dual) in the hole where the radio goes. (base model) Just a thought. Thanks again, Tom.

  • Bu11sh1t -

    Do you want my spot

  • FunCycle -

Where have you been all day, I even went to Welter and she took pictures for you. I have been on the fairgrounds about all day. Maybe see you tomorrow afternoon. call me 843 543 5213 Gerald

  • Miller Time -

I will be at SSITS tomorrow and hopefully be able to find you to discuss the Welter dual exhaust and Assault fender issue. I am staying at the Comfort Inn. I winden the Assault fender bracket and now able to move it towar the middle and see if it will work based on the fact that Jeff said he could move the exhaust back toward the plastic to give more room. We are going to talk tomorrow.

  • FunCycle -

I will get some more info today,

  • Bu11sh1t -

I am interested in the blue and white one my phone 219 363 8281

    • FunCycle -

The SlingShot has 200 miles on it and no recalls. $22,900 It is also listed on Craig's list. If you are serious about it I will get the phone number

  • FunCycle -

I am glad I could help, they told me that you had already gone back to Ct.

  • Rocky3 -

Good Afternoon,I meet you Wednesday when I just bought the slingshot and now I am home in CT and my wife loves it
Thank you letting me know about this site

    • FunCycle -

If you look around on here the CT. people have their own thread. I met another gentleman and his wife this morning that were also from Ct. but they did not bring their SS. They were looking at my SS and wanted information so I gave them an Info Forum Card also. I will let you know when he sends me a message

  • Miller Time -

Question my friend: If I am able to widen the Assault fender bracket and move it over to the middle of the swingarm and mount it to the middle of the Assault fender (will have to drill a new hole) do you believe it will work with the Welter Dual Exhaust? Moving it all the way to the right will probably result in a lot less support to the fender but leaving it in the middle should be OK.

By the way, I posted this message on the conversation menu as well.

We have been talking about this for the last year, I have a copy of the last change in my glove box. But as far as a couple of months ago the helmet is still required, but it looks like in some areas it is not enforced. I got the copy from Josh he said the helmet was not required but found out later it still is. If I remember correctly it was something about not having air bags

  • outhouseking -

Funcycle, are helmets required in the Slingshot in North Carolina? I`m getting different answers.

  • FunCycle -

    Good luck

Thanks for being concerned about my well being. In a different life I was an ASE CERTIFIED mechanic in vehicle electronics, as well as steering, suspension and brakes. Not the same voltage, I know, but I have a healthy respect for electricity all the same. I've had a somewhat similar experience with a blower that wouldn't stop running, but the was gas fired not electric. In that case it was a limit switch that was bad. It was just blowing cold air. In this case, the air is the temperature that the thermostat is set at. Tomorrow I will check the limit switches for continuity. I'm doing for the night. Thanks again for your concern.

  • FunCycle -

I am wanting to make a Fla. trip next summer, will see what happens.

  • Cape Sling -

I hope you are doing well and we get to ride brother

  • FunCycle -

We have had about 6 inches of rain so far. The actual eye is about 120 miles away right now. A little bit of wind right now.

  • Bill Martin -

Hey Bro - that damn storm is barreling down on ya! Be safe and take care of yourself - keep me posted - sayin a prayer for you.

  • FunCycle -

Have not installed yet. I will have to have a rack or pull the front off too low for me to work on. Besides that is a rain day project. Thanks

  • MACAWS -

    Hey Buddy

How did the pieces for the front of the wing work out?
I hope they fit - if so you will need to update your avatar

I pulled mine down early on soon as I heard something and greased with the high temp. Lucas. Have not heard a thing since. Good luck see you in Maggie about 11 AM Monday morning. I had to pay dealer labor to pull apart and grease, they would not do under warrenty at the time. They wanted to tighten nut to see if it cleared up, I said nope pull it apart and grease. Pulled apart and no grease to be seen looked like the bearings had been dipped in oil.

  • Bill Martin -

Hey Bro / had to let you know plans changed. Called off Charleston trip. Getting ready to load it up and loud clicking started - think axle bearing is toast. We made it to Birmingham and gonna visit Rabtech for couple days and then on to Maggie Valley on Sunday. Noel is gonna warranty bearing and fix it on Sunday. Sooo.... Go ahead and go however you want and I will just meet you in Maggie Valley - hopefully with a fixed Sling. See ya soon!!!

  • Bill Martin -

Hey Gerald - how you and Brenda doing?? Just made a reservation for Sunday, May 29 at the Comfort Inn at 750 Saturn Parkway in Columbia. It appears to be right off I 26 on way to Maggie Valley. Can't wait to meet ya that Monday morning.

  • FunCycle -

I built the luggage racks myself. I have one black powder coat rack set left that matches the roll bars. Have 4 more I am picking up tomorrow but they are bare steel. I do not do much night time riding but I am going to put some red leds in the cockpit and a 12 inch led strip in the vents on the front fender, waiting on a rain day I have had the lights for a couple of months. Lights are not at the top of my list.

  • Robbie "T" -

Greetings..just viewed your blog..great job..some really nice upgrades..where did you get the luggage racks from?
any intentions of putting accent lights on this beauty?

  • Bill Martin -

K - that gives me an idea where to book. Haven't rode much this week - RAIN almost every day - big storm this AM. BLAH!!

  • Bill Martin -

Hey Gerald - how you and Brenda doing?? Look- the big day is coming soon. Moved my reservation up a day to Monday so we are good to go. Thought we would drive into Columbia on Sunday so we would already be there and can have a cup of coffee when you get there and then ride on into Maggie. Can you recommend a hotel that would be handy and not in the "hood"!! lol

    • FunCycle -

There are plenty to chose from. Just look for what you want on I-26 north of I-77 / I-26 exchange. I will be coming into Columbia on I- 77 and getting onto I - 26. I have been about 600 miles this week so far. Ride safe Gerald

  • Bill Martin -

Hey buddy - are we supposed to meet on that Monday to ride into Maggie Valley? Can't remember. Have reservations starting Tues but hotel says they will let me come on Monday if I call. Please excuse my dementia

  • FunCycle -

I installed the 1320 header on Monday and said I would post the gas mileage after this weekends 800 mile ride. Well people on my 2 other 1000 mile averages I had 34.2 MPG with just the cat delete and the Alpha CAI. Well with the addition of the 1320 header this weekend I got for the 808.9 miles and 28.962 gal. the mileage comes out to a grand total of 28.962 MPG under windy and cold conditions and at all speeds up to 115 MPH and at least 150 miles running 75 to 85 MPH.

    • rydahog -

umm!? so you lost mileage...unless it was speed and conditions?

    • FunCycle -

I am not sure , so I am going to track the MPG For the next couple of weeks. I just did a total for the whole trip like always. Need to break out the slow and the fast and check again.

  • FunCycle -

Installed the plastic ( Red ) boots on my lug nuts today while I was hanging out in Columbia. Thank You Bubblehead
