....a friend brought a new 2019 slingshot but was told he couldn't pick it up DUE to a recall on the seatbelts, not sure if he was talking about the recall for the seat BELT guide, which I have a recall on my 2017 sling.......?
....Is this true....
-
-
I'd guess it's true. IIRC, it is illegal for a dealer to sell a vehicle with an unresolved recall issue.
-
....they told him 4-6 weeks til the part arrives......I was also told the part was on back order for the part for me.....and he traded in his Harley Street Glide, they said he could pick up the bike, so he has choices..........
-
Since they know he won't have use of the Slingshot until the recall is fixed, they should let him have the Harley to use in the meantime and should still give him the agreed upon trade-in value when the Slingshot is repaired.
-
He was offered to pick up his street glide but realizes that by doing so, if something should happen to the street glide it could kill the deal so he choosing to leave it there... and be patience

Being w/o a ride can suck!

I just had the same problem. I just traded in my 2012 Harley Street Glide for a new 2018 Slingshot SL then they told me it would be about a week because there was a seat belt recall on the unit and they cannot deliver unit with an open recall. I guess I was lucky they gave me a demo unit to drive until they delivered mine last Friday.

I have a price hammered out for a new 2019 SLR with a local dealer - they have a "Stop Sell" order from Polaris. I cannot get my ride until after parts come in and the recall is handled.
-
Wow....
-
Polaris will respond as quickly as they can to the dealers. Polaris needs them to sell Slingshots. As far as customers who've already bought, they're at the bottom of Polaris' list of concerns.

I kind of figure that out also......my friend who has to wait spoke with Polaris cooperate office and was told Sept 17th is when the part will be available, not sure if that means when the dealer will have the part or not

Polaris will want to fix units sitting in dealer inventory first since the dealers will want to get them sold so they can buy more product from Polaris. I was referring to regular customers who already have their Slingshots who are affected by the recall. At least if you already have it, you can ride it while waiting.

Polaris Recalls Slingshots for Potential Seat Belt Failure (2017-2019)
I see someone lost their life & now the recall

I took out those phony assed seat belts and put in PRP harnesses long ago.

The article states the is sue occurred in a 2015 but the recall is for 2017-19 Does Polaris only have to go back 2 years legally?
“The Office of Defects Investigations (ODI) received Vehicle Owners Questionnaire (VOQ) #10981465 alleging the seatbelt retractor on a 2015 Polaris Slingshot failed during a crash resulting in fatal injuries to the driver of the vehicle. The subject Slingshot vehicle is a three wheeled motorcycle that, according

……….So my friend gets to pick up his New Slingshot today but yet the parts for the seat belt guide that are on order for my slingshot is STILL on backorder as I just spoke to the service dept......guess they got to get those new ones out the door first...…..But they do have my sensors for my brake failure light ….
-
Stopped by my dealer couple days ago just to say hello and Svc Dept lady said they are waiting for seat belt "clips" to come in and will call me when they get them. Didn't question her about the clips so no idea how they are installed.

Like I posted earlier, Polaris will focus on getting existing dealer in-stock inventory moved and then focus on Slingshots already on the road. At least this isn't a Stop Riding situation.
