when he doesn't own a watch.I own a couple of them but have not seen them in years. I quit wearing a watch about 1975 when on a ride to Flordia on the Goldwing

I am lucky to wash it once a year. It gets a good rain wash every now and then.

My latest detail on my 2015 Polaris Slingshot SL that I picked up on Saturday. It was "clean", but not to my liking, so I gave it a top to bottom detail. I followed this process to give it a good cleaning, polish, and layers of protection. Then I can just maintain which is a WHOLE lot easier.
Here is my list of products/procedures:
1. Cleaned engine bay with Griot`s Engine Cleaner, dried with a leaf blower, and sealed with Griot`s Engine Detailer
2. Cleaned wheel wells with Griot`s Engine Cleaner
3. Wheels cleaned with Griot`s Heavy-Duty Wheel Cleaner
4. Washed with ONR to get any silicones/grease/dirt off
5. Clayed paint in spots with Zaino clay bar
6. Washed again, then dried completely
7. Polished swirls with Griot`s Machine Polish 2 and an orange pad
8. Wipe down with Speed Shine
9. Second pass with Klasse AIO applied with PC and a yellow pad
10. Wipe with SONUS Acrylic Spritz
11. Applied 1 coat Klasse SG by hand with wipe-on/wipe-off method
12. Wipe again with SONUS
13. Applied S100 Wax Top coat wipe-on/wipe-off
14. Wiped again with SONUS
15. Cleaned plastic trim and applied Vinylex
16. Tires with Griot`s Long Lasting Dressing
17. Sprayed undercarriage where visible (wheel wells, around the rear wheel, etc) with Griot`s Undercarriage Spray and wiped residual spray
18. Polished all plastic with Plexus
19. Seats treated with Griot`s 3 in 1 Leather Cleaner/ConditionerI didn`t get as deep of a shine as I wanted but I was trying to be careful with the paint, as I am not sure how thick the clear and paint is especially with all the lines on this thing! The pearl metallic shows through nicely though.
All in all, better than when it started.
Also, as stated above, use good applicators, microfiber towels, and avoid circular motions. Never wipe dry. Use a quick detailer solution if you are removing dust. Also avoid the Cali Duster. That is just dragging dirt across the vehicle until it gets picked up. This paint/clear will scratch very easily, and the paint seems very thin.
Not to be rude my friend, but how much time are we talking about for a detail job like this?

@Doc&Ruby - It took me about 7-8 hours. I've been known to spend 2 days detailing a car, so this wasn't too bad. I wanted to get it in a shape that I can just maintain for at least a year with regular washes, some QD, and an occasional wax coating. It's worth it up front. So much easier to clean when you start clean and with protection.

Wow my hat off to you, I only wish I had half that dedication. If you ever get the erg and yours is way to clean feel free to drop on by. I can assist and make drinks

LOL! You know, I searched the forums for a guide to detailing the Slingshot and didn't find one. I was going to offer to write one, but it sounds like nobody would use it!

I would print it and file it with all the other stuff I planed to do one day. I am sure there is people the would find it useful. I would pick and choose the areas I feel the need.
The idea is great, my body can hardly hold up long enough to get her a good rinse. I am writing down some of the products you used now. -

7-8 hours sounds like two days to me. Just out of curiosity- 2 days detailing = how many days riding?

I have seen a wide variety of opinions for this thread. I was once at a bike rally (back in the day, no more two wheels for me) and one guy said something about the other guys bike needing a bath. He replied, "it's not a trailer queen. I bought it to ride." To each their own. I am very happy with the company that details mine. I hope some on here can have the same luck I have if they so desire.

A clean ride is an un-riden ride........
-
Unless the Sling is exceptionally dirty (ridden in the rain for several miles) I usually just use VooDoo Ride detailer to clean and shine her right up. It is usable on both painted and unpainted surfaces as well as the windscreen and roof.
Takes about half an hour. I like it nice and shines but I bought it to ride it.

If she don't feel like washing it then I'll ride it dirty but I really like it better when it's clean.

I beg to differ......I love my toys clean when I pull out for a ride.....This is my first summer with my Bee Bee ( slingshot ) just pulled her out in March & have 7k miles on it and will be at 10k b4 this season is over...…. IM RETIRED lol so I do a lot of riding all over the damn place smh BUT I love when its clean...and I spend no more than an Hour detailing my bikes & a few hours if im using my buffing machines on my cars, but a regular car wash with hose & leaf blower 30 min tops, bike & slingshot 20 min tops X 3 days a week...

I have found this is worth it’s weight in gold! Makes getting all the little spots and detailing them a piece of cake! When you’re finished roll over to the rollbar reach up grab it and pull yourself up. Pressure washer, leaf blower, then armor all and detail spray in the tray below me! Scoot around the SS like a little kid!

Yes it is, but harbor freight has a round one with five wheels , less tipping, with hydraulic lift on seat. Bout 40$. Also worth weight in gold and adjustable.
JUST SAYIN

Totally agree and thank you but you dance with the one you have
