@MACAWS if he gets a suitable female and you still want a pup.....you'll have one buddy.

So sad 😢

They are like our children... went through this myself this year- it is never easy. Remember the many good times- we humans would be better off if we were more like our furry friends.
Be well 😕

There is no difference in the grief of losing a family member and losing "a pet" that has become tied to your family in every way possible. We adopt, take up with, give love to "a pet".... and thru the years they become our greatest comforters, companions, and treasured friends in life. My heart goes out to you for your loss.
Please don't say you wont get another... go to a shelter, find a pet that needs rescued, the one that speaks to you, and you can hear saying "I desire to be loved. " That to me, is the best way to honor your loved one - In loving memory.
It also helps heal... right now the "silence" of the household without a 4 legged friend that hasn't existed for 14 years... is a constant stabbing reminder with each tick of the clock.
God bless you for being a dedicated and loving pet owner.
This is Buddy, who spent 22 years as my "pet" before nasal cancer and enlarged heart created too many health issues.. had to put him to sleep when his breathing became pained and too much work for him. I had him cremated because - he had not been outdoors for 22 years... I could not imagine him being put outdoors after his death.
This is the pet that has not filled the paws of his predecessor.....yet.... he has his moments... we are still working on our trust issues going into the 3rd year of our relationship... but - I accepted the responsibility of taking this fur child in... therefore, if he never becomes a cuddler or doesnt ever stop bringing blood when I try to make him cuddle...... I'll still be caring for him, until his life - or mine- has ended..
