I would like to use Mobil 1 in the engine, transmission and gear box, but it appears that Mobil 1 does not do an equivalent GL-3 or Synchromesh gear lube?

The military uses AOAP sampling and has the oil tested to let them know when to change it. I noticed that on the really older vehicles we were changing the oil quite frequently while on the newer one ...not nearly as much. We had to log everything.
If you really wanted to know how your vehicle is wearing and when to change the oil ...you could use that method. there are companies that you can send it to.

I use Blackstone Labs for my oil analysis , they seem to get high praises from people who have forgotten way more than I will ever know.

Changed the motor oil with Mobil 1 synthetic
Pretty nice it takes the same filter as the wife's HHR - I have those in stock
Greased the U-Joint - Bought the Lincoln 5803 needle - Way easier to grease it from underneath than through the cup holder
Did not change the trans fluid
But did change the the angle drive fluid to Royal Purple 75W-140
Yes - the stuff coming out was nasty and black, there was a lot of particulate on the plugs magnet
It is way easier to take the battery out and fill the angle drive from there than to use that stupid pump
I replaced the Plug with a "dimple" Plug - Yes, it is pricey and it still kind of hurts but it's only money
I do notice a lot less angle drive noise
I will do the Transmission probably at the next oil change -

I think I will stay with the Mobil 1 in the engine, but the Grasshopper is now sneaking up on 20,000 miles and at that time I think I will be dumping the Royal Purple out of the tranny, the Lucas out of the angle drive, and just going with Polaris brand in both................
