I’m thinking of making something to keep the dirt off the under side of the hood. It’s very hard to keep clean.
Inner fender liners

That part has to be clean??????????????????
uh oh!
-
It just looks nasty. I stopped at a car rally and a friend of mine was there. I lifted the hood to show him the motor and he said next time clean my vehicle.
Point is if you want to participate in car show “trophy” inspections they look at everything and everything they find wrong like dirt is a deduction.
I’m also thinking a smooth surface under the hood would make it more aerodynamic and cut down on fender flapping.

uh oh!Run into some road construction like I did a few weeks ago... and it all ended up in that honey comb area bigdog is talking about. What a mess. Wasn't bad till I met up with the water truck dumping water on the gravel making for a real mess.

You should see that honeycomb on the backside of a Polaris Sportsman bumper. You could grow vegetables in there.I never understood that design on an off-road vehicle. Polaris isn't really thinking about the owner after the sale.
-
I don’t know what was on mine but I had to use Bug & Tar remover on it and there is still crud stuck in the corners of each and every honeycomb...
And the car wash spray wouldn’t even touch it..

In another thread I used one of these to get that area clean after running through a bunch of road crap. Wasn't any interest in that thread though. Worked really well.

Try this stuff it is a great spray on cleaner ZEP 40
You can also use some of the orange cleaners but need to keep them away from painted surfaces
