Mounting questions... It's not what you think @Tripod

Ram X mounts for both my tablet and my phone. I have spent a total of $51 and it stays where it should.

I also use Ram mount, I purchased from McMasterCarr M6X1 Stainless steel bolt and put a washer under it so it fits the bracket without re taping to 1/4 20.

If you're not adverse to putting velcro on the back of your phone it'll attach very well to the flat part of the windshield bracket. Soft on the phone and the loop side on the bracket.

Gosh yes. I have all kinds of stuff mounted to my windshield post. I have two RAM balls and a rear view mirror and a Xgrip RAM phone holder and I have a 3 way RAM ball that lets me mount my radar on the third ball mount.

I consider myself a RAM mount junkie. I have 3 huge cases of RAM mounts. I have nearly every one they make.

I have a mount in every vehicle also. And I have them all over my slingshot.

Just remember try to always buy the metal 1" balls. They sell plastic 1" ball mounts and they are OK. But if you hang any real weight on them they shake a bit. The metal balls are rock solid and you won't find anything that beats them.

If you Google RAM mounts there are a few places that literally carry every RAM product made. I buy a lot of mine from a place called GPS city or something like that.

I have more boxes full. I just couldn't reach that far into my truck bed to get them. I just came back from Panama City Beach. I had all those cases with me.

In Maggie Valley I will have all boxes of mounts and arms. If someone wants to try one out just let me know. I am going to order some of the 1" RAM balls that screw into the threads on the windshield post. I already had the 1/4" thread balls so I tapped not post holes and used mine. But when I order I will get the metric threaded studs so that you won't have to tap the threads. Can someone confirm that it's a 6mm thread that the post has?

Ok after making that last post I remember why I used the 1/4" ball mount. The only metal ball is on the 1/4" thread. And the 6mm is on the plastic ball. So I would definitely tap the 6mm thread out to 1/4 x 20.

All the balls are rubber coated. It's just that some are plastic and some are metal inside. I believe this is what you would want to order.

And just get a 1/4x20 tap and tap the 6mm thread out.
